**Roles & Responsibilities**:

- Assist Laboratory Supervisor to provide clear, concise and accurate, consistent and timely analytical results, collection of a round of samples.
- Report analytical results to operations within expected turnaround times. Provide clear and concise instructions based on report findings (results, QC, duplicate, etc).
- Execute all maintenance and quality control procedures as detailed in the standard Quality Assurance Manual for water Quality Monitoring. Compile records of the results.
- Good time-management, communication, multi-tasking and priority setting skills.
- Inform senior staff of any sample integrity related issues.
- Excellent working knowledge of water analysis for water testing facility including compliance analysis, Turbidity, Silica, hardness, bitumen in water, Iron, TPH, Oil & Grease, TSS, TDS.
- Analysts must have a high degree of organizational skills, as they are required to operate several different instruments throughout a shift with due diligence.
- Ensure that maintenance and Quality control procedures for all peripheral equipment necessary for the analysis is properly performed and documented.

**EH&S Responsibilities**:

- Ensure that all laboratory activities and procedures are performed in as safe and environmentally friendly manner as possible.

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum of a Bachelor of Science or Chemical Technology diploma.
- Knowledge of ASTM / UOP methodology and quality control practices.
- 2-5 years of experience in a specific laboratory environment.
- Excellent up-to-date knowledge of laboratory process, LIMS and automation.
- Good knowledge of relevant ASTM, UOP, API and similar standard method approaches to analysis.
- Experience in an Oil Sands laboratory is an asset.
- CSO, BSO or CSTS-09 and OSSA Regional Orientation.
