This is a part-time job (~ 5-10) hours that mostly occurs on weekends.
Under the Gui is a computer programming school for children ages 7-18. We provide a rich and engaging environment that inspires children and teens to innovate, think critically, and create with technologies on the fringe of our hi-tech culture. We strongly believe that children and teens love to learn, learning can be fun, and that coding is the future.
Currently, we are looking for Coding instructors for the weekends and who are able to jump in soon at our Kitsilano location. Note that having teaching experience is a plus but not necessary. This role would be ideal for people interested in computer science and game development, especially those who want to start a teaching role in their career.
If you are passionate about game development or have a knack for computers. If you are looking for a fun and engaging way to pass your wisdom on to kids and wanting to impact the young generation positively through education. This part-time position with UTG would be perfect for you
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teaches students in learning the fundamentals of computer programming
- Manages classrooms of up to 5 students and ensures fairness and equal opportunities of all students
- Supports, encourages, and inspires students to further their creativity and critical thinking skills
- Follows and enhances the existing curriculum at Under the GUI
- Prepares progress reports of the students for parents to assess twice per semester
- Provides and ensures a fun, interactive, and engaging environment for students to thrive in during the learning process
The qualifications:
- You enjoy working with kids
- You are patient, cheerful and you smile a lot : )
- You have some experience with C#, Python, Web programming, Java programming or a similar language
- Unity experience is highly valued
- You have intermediate to advanced knowledge of computer programming and related concepts.
- You have the ability to convey complicated code in a simple manner for children to understand. If you have some previous teaching/tutoring experience, that's a huge plus
- If you are a holder of or working towards, a bachelor’s degree in computer programming, computer science, computer engineering or technology-related field, that's an extra plus
Part-time hours: 5-10 per week
