**Schedule**: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM

White Pines Academy is a specialized educational institution dedicated to supporting adults with autism and developmental disabilities. Our mission is to provide a supportive and enriching environment where our students can develop their skills, independence, and reach their full potential through personalized educational programming.

**Volunteer Opportunity**

We are excited to invite enthusiastic volunteers to join our 8-week summer camp program for adults with autism and developmental disabilities. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates, college students in related fields, individuals with experience working with children who want to expand their skills to supporting adults with developmental disabilities, and/or individuals who are retired (from a position in a related field) and would like to give back to the community.

**What You'll Do**
- Assist our teaching staff in implementing fun and engaging summer camp activities - both in class and in the community
- Support adults with autism and developmental disabilities in participating in recreational and educational programming
- Help with the implementation of behavioural and success support strategies under the guidance of our Program Director
- Assist with creating and preparing educational and activity materials using platforms like Canva and Boardmaker
- Support students during community outings and field trips
- Assist with daily living activities as needed
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions

**Who We're Looking For**
- College/university students in related fields (Psychology, Social Work, Education, Developmental Services Worker, Autism and Behavioural Science, Behavioural Science Technology, Social Service Worker, etc.)
- Recent graduates looking to gain practical experience in the field
- Individuals with experience working with children who want to expand their skills to working with adults
- People passionate about supporting individuals with developmental disabilities

**Requirements**:

- Genuine interest in working with adults with autism and developmental disabilities
- Commitment to the days agreed upon
- Ability to maintain a positive, patient, and supportive attitude
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Valid vulnerable sector police check (or willingness to obtain one)
- Reliable transportation to our location

**Beneficial Experience/Knowledge (Not Required)**:

- Previous volunteer or work experience with individuals with developmental disabilities
- Knowledge of visual supports and augmentative communication devices/technology
- Experience with Canva, Boardmaker, or similar tools
- Training in first aid/CPR
- Background in recreation programming or camp counseling

Pay: From $0.01 per hour

Expected hours: 6.5 - 19.5 per week
