Currently hiring for **Seasonal Gardeners**who are ready to learn, have fun, share knowledge and commit to the entire season. Must be currently living in the Edmonton area and eligible for work.

**Your Role (including, but not limited to)**:
Care for gardens as directed by your crew lead include (but not limited to):

- Garden clean ups
- Plant care (deadheading, pest & disease control, division, support)
- Weeding, fertilization, soil amendments, light pruning and edging beds
- Prepare & top-dress beds
- Plant small trees, shrubs, perennials, and bulbs
- Unload and distribution of bulk mulch, garden soil
- Pruning shrubs and small trees
- Working with soil amendments
- Seasonal Planter care (pinching, keeping planters tidy, planting and emptying as required, etc)
- Maintenance and care of assigned tools/supplies
- This role may also include input to the plan of garden re-design, plantings & maintenance goals

With experience, there is the opportunity to be a **Gardener Team Lead**. Additionally, Team Leads will:

- Coordinate and work with other crew members performing maintenance/planting according to schedule and standards
- Assist in training Gardeners in plant id, horticultural practices (weed, cultivate, edge, top dress, etc) and company procedures
- Client care management
- Produce timely, accurate progress reports and required company documentation (daily Site Checklist, etc)
- Communicate with clients and management
- Assist the Owner with projects and scheduling the crew

**Your Typical Day**: - Season often starts Mid to Late April, up to and including the end of October. Generally, 28 - 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 5 pm, with opportunities for additional hours in peak times, including Saturdays.

We adjust our start times to an earlier start (up to 7 am) if weather is hotter than usual. NOTE: We cannot guarantee minimum hours due to weather delays, etc. but offer opportunities to work time lost on weekends when available.

You will be working in teams of 2 - 3 crew members and may be required to split your workday between 2-3 locations, depending on the clients’ needs. During the annual planting and spring/fall clean-up season you will be expected to work longer hours.

All gardening tools and uniform performance shirt will be provided. WCB Covered.

**What you need to work as a Gardener with us**:

- Curiosity about gardening
- Focus on quality and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to take direction and then work relatively independently
- Stamina and positive, upbeat outlook/attitude in all outdoor weather conditions
- Ability to work around all kinds of insects
- Closed toe shoes/boots with a solid sole
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, repetitively bend and/or kneel for periods of time
- Ability to use a variety of hand tools and small power gardening tools, such backpack blowers and gas powered/electric hedging shears
- Reliable transportation to and from the assigned worksites is required as you will be assigned a bucket of tools/supplies for the season and need to bring it with you each and everyday
- Proper workwear for various types of weather
- .Need your own cell phone with a data plan as we start our days with clocking into our time-keeping app and update/input our daily digital notes/checklists in that app at the end of each shift

You will be provided with a company t shirt and/or long sleeved shirt that you are expected to wear visibly during your shift.

**Rate of Pay**: Hourly, paid bi-weekly. Starting wage rates for Gardener $20 - 24 per hour
