We are dedicated to providing products, services and information to meet academic, professional, social and cultural needs. **Responsibilities**: The Accounting Assistant II reports to the Accounting Manager and is responsible for providing financial, administrative and clerical services. This includes balancing daily sales transactions, reporting, supply ordering and processing and monitoring payments, receivables and administrative accounts. The Accounting Assistant supports customer service, including pricing/quoting. Providing these services in an effective and efficient manner will ensure that finances are accurate and up to date, receivables are processed in a timely manner and vendors and suppliers are paid within established time limits. **Qualifications**: **Education**: - 2 year community college diploma in Accounting - Bachelor’s degree in business or accounting preferred **Experience**: - 2 years’ accounting experience in a computer intensive environment - Previous customer service and administrative/clerical experience - A print background would be an asset Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: - Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to complete detailed analytics and reports and confidence dealing with all levels of an organization - Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures Strong customer service skills to handle enquiries and resolve issues in a collaborative, respectful and timely manner - Strong attention to detail and the ability to process information with high levels of accuracy - Excellent money handling, bookkeeping and clerical skills in a computer intensive environment - Ability to work within a flexible schedule to accommodate WRS’s operational hours and seasonal peak times - Results oriented with an ability to handle many tasks and maintain a high level of individual and team performance - Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative and follow through on work assignments - Ability to establish and build healthy working relations and partnerships with clients, peers and external stakeholders - Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions - Problem-solving skills and professional judgment in a team environment Demonstrated analytical ability with a working knowledge of accounting principles Intermediate Skills in Microsoft Office Excel and Word and database management experience - Knowledge of FIPPA and Best Practices for Handling Cardholder Information Policy - Knowledge of acquisitions and receiving, supplier terms and policies **Union Statement**: **Background Checks**: Please note, successful applicants may be required to produce a current criminal record check(s) from a police service, as well as a credit check satisfactory to the employer prior to commencing employment. **Western Values Diversity**: Accommodations are available for applicants with disabilities throughout the recruitment process.
