**is seeking a Temporary Contract Cook Position**

Northern Youth Services Inc. is responsible for the delivery of Youth Justice Programs:
Open Detention/ Custody Residential (Sterling B. Campbell House) and Community-based Programs.

**Hours of Work**: Regular Part-time ; afternoon shifts. 20-32 hours per week (pending occupancy rates)

Start Date: As soon as possible

End Date: March 31, 2025 (with possibility of extension)

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Any combination of education, training and working experience that provides specific knowledge of dietary needs, meal preparation for groups, menu planning and food selection.
- Maintain current Food Handlers’ Card
- Valid Ontario Driver’s Licence (Class G) with a safe driving record
- This position also requires good personal communication and teamwork skills, attention to detail for meal documentation, and a commitment to contributing toward the young person’s positive and healthy experience with food.
- This position also requires the physical capacity to address the demands of meal preparation, including standing for periods of time, lifting pans or food items, bulk grocery shopping and operating kitchen equipment.

**OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES**
- Provides and/or prepares two meals per day for 3 to 12 individuals (young persons and staff) as per set schedule.
- Assumes responsibility for the kitchen’s physical plant, security and cleanliness.

**ACCOUNTABILITY AND RESPONSIBILITY FOR FOOD SERVICES**
- Meal menus and preparation are according to the Canada Food Guide are submitted to the Supervisor.
- Ensures that cleanliness standards of the kitchen, dining area and equipment set out by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services and Public Health Unit regulations are being maintained.
- Inspects kitchen and equipment to ensure it is maintained in safe condition; reporting any damages, malfunctioning equipment immediately.
- Ensures Ontario Health and Safety Act standards are adhered to.
- Organizes time, plans for errands, shopping, etc.

**COMPENSATION**:

- As per OPSEU Collective Agreement, starting wage rate is $21.10/hour
- 4% vacation pay
- 10% Lieu of Benefits after 440 hours
