**We are looking for a COLLABORATIVE and CLIENT SERVICE FOCUSED Lawyer looking to join our team at the Region of Peel**

In this role, you will provide high quality and effective legal advice and representation to the regional municipality, Peel Living, the Peel Police Services Board, Peel Regional Police and other public agencies where appropriate.

As a lawyer here at the Region, you will provide advice and represent clients in arbitrations and court proceedings in a wide range of ways. Some of those could be insurance defence, commercial, real property, Landlord and tenant, construction and government procurement disputes. There also may be times where you need to represent clients in board, tribunal, and court proceedings.

**What are we looking for?**
- Bachelor of Laws degree, Juris Doctor or equivalent
- Be a member in good standing of the LSUC
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience as a practicing lawyer
- Knowledge of and experience in:

- Insurance defence/ tort litigation
- Debt recovery
- Commercial Litigation
- Public Health
- Real property disputes
- Must have active litigation experience and excellent advocacy skills
- Must possess excellent communication, drafting, analytical and research skills
- Demonstrate conflict resolution, problem solving, and negotiation skills
- Demonstrate sound judgement, tact, patience and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
- Must possess excellent time management skills and the ability to multi-task and balance competing priorities
- Maintain composure under pressure
- Ability to manage and develop relationships with members of the public, other legal counsel and Senior Management
- Maintain and develop collaborative partnerships with municipal, provincial and federal bodies
- Knowledge of municipal legislation and businesses an asset
- In this role you will have the ability to work remotely and attend on-site when required based on operational requirements at the 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton worksite. The frequency of on-site activities may vary on a weekly basis and based on operational requirements. Your remote work location must be located within the province of Ontario.

**Hours of Work***: 35 hours per week**
