The cook position is an integral part of that experience and valued part of our diverse and caring team. We are looking for a competent and industrious individual with a passion for great food to assist our Chef in the day-to-day food service. Cook PT/Casual **Reports to**:Chef **Key areas of responsibility**: The successful applicant must be adaptable, creative and confident in their ability to produce superior meals in a timely and efficient manner to meet or exceed the Chef and Guest expectations. With the Chef's direction and support you will work in a fast-paced, busy environment, consistently producing a wide variety of health conscious, tasty buffet and family style foods for up to 50 guests. With guest satisfaction in mind, you will meet some dietary needs. All the while focusing on health and safety by keeping a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen employing Food Safe procedures and Health and Safety guidelines set out by the Provincial Public Health Officer. **Core Competencies**: - Guest Focused (Understanding and anticipating the needs of our guests. Remains professionally courteous and has the ability to engage in a friendly manner with guests.) - Problem Solving and Decision Making (Ability to use critical thinking and resourcefulness to creatively solve problems. Able to respond well to directions, and appropriately give and receive feedback.) - Working with the Tools and Technology of the job (Selecting, using tools effectively and safely.) - Health and Safety (Maintaining and complying with procedures for a safe and healthy work environment. Recognize and identify risk.Have current Food Safe, WHMIS, Serving It Right.) - Physical Requirements: Maintain a clean and well groomed appearance. Safely lift 40lb. Stand for up to 4 hours at a time. Carry, reach, or pull, and to safely use step stools, short ladders, and climb stairs. **Education & Experience**: - *High school diploma or equivalent; Diploma from a culinary school will be an advantage. - *Proven experience as a cook. **Perks**: - We can often adjust the schedule to suit your needs. - Working in a clean, respectful, enjoyable environment, next to nature with a caring team. - On busy days there is often staff lunch available.
