**Position title**:GIS**Technician - Habitat Restoration Program
Taking care of our environment has never been more important than it is today. The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) is looking for a GIS Technician to join a team committed to protecting our most important natural areas and the plants and animals they sustain.
NCC is the nation’s leading not-for-profit, private land conservation organization, working to protect our most important natural areas and the species they sustain. Since 1962, we have brought people together to conserve and restore more than 15 million hectares across Canada. NCC takes a collaborative, evidence-based approach to achieve conservation success for the sake of nature and Canadians. With a national office in Toronto and seven regional offices across the country, NCC delivers results you can walk on.
NCC recognizes that we work on lands that have long been cared for by Indigenous Peoples under their own laws and knowledge systems. We are committed to transforming how we do our work, advancing Reconciliation through conservation, and working with Indigenous Peoples in meaningful, respectful, and supportive ways.

Reporting to the Director of Conservation Planning and Stewardship and working with the Ontario GIS team, this individual will use Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to produce multi-scale maps, create spatial databases, compile and align datasets, and analyze and present data in support of NCC’s landscape-level habitat restoration and stewardship work. This is a fast-paced job working to plan, document, and promote the large-scale habitat restoration being delivered across Ontario.

- Compile and manage the NCC and the OPA’s tabular and spatial datasets from multiple data sources; implement data backup procedures, track data holdings, update and document (with metadata) datasets as needed, and integrate these with any cloud-based or similar systems as these develop;
- Participate in internal GIS working groups;
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Conservation Planning and Stewardship, or GIS Coordinators.
**Position Requirements**
- University graduate in geomatics or geography with significant course work in geographic information systems (GIS) or have a certificate in GIS from an accredited college, and a minimum of six months GIS-focused work experience;
