**Responsibilities**:
The clinician will report to the Manager of Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Addictions. All services provided will be provided directly in the First Nations school community environment of Membertou and Eskasoni. This is a collaborative model that is comprehensive and student focused. Partners work together to educate and provide service to the child and their family, with the school as the center of the service. The clinician is a member of a school-based multidisciplinary team and participates in the planning, development, provision and evaluation of mental health services for the assigned population in designated school settings. The service will focus on early identification and intervention of mental health disorders for children and adolescent within the school population. The clinician will act as a liaison between the client, school, and mental health services.

**Qualifications**:
Master's degree in Social Work with a specialization in clinical mental health and/or addiction stream from an accredited program specializing in children, adolescents and families

If above not available, a master's degree in Social Work from an acceptable institution that can demonstrate a significant portion of coursework focused on the areas of children, adolescents and families will be considered.

Eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers (NSCSW)
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in an inpatient/outpatient mental health setting providing independent assessment and treatment of mental health disorders in children, adolescents and their families, including concurrent disorders (substance abuse/dependence and mental illness)
Demonstrated expertise about the principles of behaviour management, cognitive behaviour therapy, group therapy for children and adolescents, and brief therapy models
Knowledge of the DSM-V and ability to use it to assess and diagnose common childhood mental health disorders (e.g., anxiety, depression, behaviour disorders) and the ability to identify and refer on more severe disorders (e.g., psychosis, bipolar)
Experience in crisis intervention and risk assessment
Demonstrated leadership skills

in working collaboratively and cooperatively as part of a multi-disciplinary team within a flexible work schedule and environment
Exemplary ability to coordinate the development of effective linkages with other agencies such as, justice, education, social service and community agencies as needed
Extensive knowledge of community resources
Experience and ability to provide mental health training and education sessions, including grand rounds case presentations
Demonstrated experience in crisis and suicide risk assessment and intervention
Experience working in a First Nations Community would be an asset
Demonstrated a high level of awareness of cultural sensitivity and a willingness to learn more about our local First Nations culture
Demonstrated ability to integrate the mental health and cultural and language needs of clients and families
Travel to other sites is required and must have access to reliable vehicle.
Rural travel is required
Evening hours are required
Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours of Work
- Permanent Part-Time (50%) position; 37.5 hours biweekly
- Travel to Eskasoni and Membertou Schools is required
- Evening hours required
Salary Information
Healthcare Social Worker (Masters):
$36.04 - $47.38 hourly
