CHILD SUPPORT WORKER

**Casual positons available**

The Child Support Worker is responsible to the Program Director or her designate. Child Support Worker is required to keep confidentiality a priority at all times.

**QUALIFICAITONS**:
Educational training in childhood development or equivalent experiences; ability to interact with children and their families in a supportive manner; ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written; cross cultural awareness and experiences; counseling skills for children and adults; household management skills; clear current criminal record check, clear current vulnerable sector check and hold a valid insurable class 5 driver’s license at all times.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Participate, plan and supervise structured activities for children
- Supervision of children during all daily activities: ie - meals, sleep & bedtime, etc.
- Assist with household and yard management - cooking meals, cleaning, washing, etc.
- Transport children as required.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Ensure all policies and procedures are followed and adhered to
- Model and encourage appropriate behavior for children and parents
- Record all pertinent information regarding child and family needs
- Recording daily events in the log as well as tracking statistical information
- Read the log at the beginning of each shift
- Attend staff meetings and/or required workshops and training
- Maintain health and safety regulations at all times.

While in the position Child Support Worker, you will have on the job training which additional duties are outlined but not limited to the following:

- Intake and exist interviews
- Filing of all client documentation
- Support counseling for parents and children
- Behavior and developmental observations and recording
- Referrals to agencies and community resources
- Household & yard maintenance - cooking meals, cleaning, washing, vacuuming & maintenance duties as required.
- Participate in fund raising activities.
- Misc. duties as required.
