**The Organization**

Since 1981, Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Toronto has served as a place to call home for families with seriously ill children undergoing treatment. RMHC Toronto encompasses a House for 81 families in downtown Toronto and seven Family Rooms in hospitals across the Greater Toronto Area and in Sudbury. The families we serve come from throughout Ontario, across Canada and around the world.

We are looking for a **Manager, Volunteer Engagement**, to join our team at the House located at 240 McCaul Street, Toronto, On.

**About the Opportunity**

Reporting to the Director, People and Culture, the Manager of Volunteer Engagement contributes to our organizational mission by growing our volunteer program and providing oversight to 500 volunteers and closely collaborating with Program Managers, Coordinators, and the People & Culture (P&C) team. This collaboration aims to create a cohesive and enriching volunteer experience that aligns with the organization's growth strategy.

The Manager of Volunteer Engagement (VE) will devise and implement strategies to cater to the specific needs of our families, fostering a compassionate, supportive, and positive environment. This will be achieved through cultivating relationships to promote volunteering at community events, volunteer fairs, and supporting family and community ambassadors for public speaking engagements.

**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**:

- Develop and execute innovative strategies to attract diverse and skilled volunteers from various channels, including online platforms, community outreach, and partnerships with educational institutions and local organizations.
- Partner with leaders to understand volunteer resource needs, conduct full-cycle recruitment and selection activities for all volunteer vacancies, and support onboarding activities.
- Cultivate collaborative partnerships with universities, volunteer organizations, and actively engage in Volunteer Fairs.
- Conduct orientation sessions, training programs, and workshops to equip volunteers with the necessary knowledge and skills for successful contributions.
- Foster an inclusive volunteer culture by organizing appreciation events and recognition programs, and regular communication with volunteers.
- Lead initiatives during National Volunteer Week, organize the organization's annual volunteer recognition event, and oversee the volunteer satisfaction survey, offering valuable insights to management.
- Ensure all appropriate data is collected and organized in the database management system; maintain accurate and up to date data and generate regular reports on KPIs.
- Manage investigations and provide detailed incident information to the Director of People and Culture; Provide support and mentorship to department leads on volunteer management.
- Collaborate with the Director of People & Culture to prepare the annual Volunteer Engagement operational plan and budget. Responsibly manage and report on budget adherence monthly.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education & Experience**
- 5+ years of proven experience in volunteer management, preferably within a medium-to-large organization(s).
- Demonstrated track record of effective and engaging program design and volunteer retention.
- Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Volunteer Management from a recognized post-secondary institution or a combination of education and relevant experience.

**Knowledge, Skills & Abilities**
- In-depth knowledge of volunteer engagement principles and current best practices.
- Ability to attract volunteer talent and skilled at recruiting large numbers of volunteers and identifying their relevant skills and areas of interest for potential volunteer assignments.
- Awareness and understanding of the Canadian Code of Volunteer Conduct, Ontario Human Rights Code and AODA.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present and clarify concerns and concepts to various audiences.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills, with the abilities to establish and maintain trusting relationships and credibility, and work independently, as well as collaboratively.
