The Scientific Specialist exercises technical leadership in order to achieve the operational objectives of the department. They act as a resource person for operational laboratory staff, Sales and Customer Service in order to improve laboratory efficiency and customer satisfaction. They makes sure that the staff are well informed and competent.
- Identify and solve complex analytical problems.
- Suggest and implement new efficient processes and procedures.
- Use Bureau Veritas “best practices”.
- Respond to inquiries and complaints from clients (CAR, NCR).
- Ensure the on-time production of defensible, high-quality data.
- Act as a technical expert for employees at all levels.
- Participate in the formation of a solid team of specialists in analysis
- Responsibilities related to scientific support_
- Recommend and train operational staff following Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to ensure the accuracy and quality of the work.
- Diagnoses anomalies relating to instruments and methods.
- Ensures that their knowledge (equipment, methods, among others) is up to date by consulting the current documentation, by organizing and attending seminars and presentations.
- Provide advice on equipment acquisitions in order to achieve operational objectives.
- Maintains a positive, safe and clean work environment for staff.
- Participate in the development of strategic plans to prepare the laboratory for sustained growth.
- Establishes cordial relationships with supervisors and managers, as well as colleagues in other workplaces.
- Responsibilities related to technological change and process improvement_
- Develops more effective SOPs and policies.
- Proposes and implements efficient production methods.
- Acts as an agent of positive change by supporting new initiatives.
- Promotes automation in terms of instruments.
- Responsibilities related to data quality_
- Finds the non-compliance of SOPs and communicates them to the Director.
- Resolves non-conforming aspects of the verification of quality assurance methods.
- Reviews and interprets data, draws attention to errors and calls for rework.
- Recommends and drafts revisions of SOPs.
- Imposes compliance with QA and QC policies and MDDEP accreditation standards.
- Responsibilities related to customer satisfaction_
- Keeps regulatory guidelines up to date.
- Handles and resolves complaints of a technical nature from clients (analytical methods, guidelines, verification of customer methods)
- **A Bachelor's degree in microbiology or the equivalent of a combination of education and experience with 2 years’ experience in a related field of analysis.**:

- Ability to work alone or in a team.
- Good qualification and attentive to details.

- Excellent knowledge of laboratory processes and automation.
