**About Potash**:
In 2021, BHP approved a CA$7.5 billion investment in Jansen Stage 1 in Saskatchewan, Canada, which is aligned with their strategy of growing exposure to future facing commodities in world-class assets. The project is expected to produce 4.35 million tonnes of potash per year with initial production targeted for 2027, ramping up to full production over two years. Jansen potash project is located approximately 140 km southeast of Saskatoon. Potash opens a new front for growth and is an expandable resource that can support a century or more of operations. Potash provides BHP with greater diversification by commodity, country, and customer.

We are seeking a Principal to join us in our Saskatoon office focused on supporting our Potash growth portfolio.
This is an excellent opportunity for you to join BHP's Portfolio Strategy & Development (PS&D) function, which brings together Decision Evaluation, Business Development, Mergers & Acquisitions and Strategy & Market Intelligence work into one team.
Decision Evaluation team purpose is to lead evaluation activities for decisions related to capital investments, planning, and commercial opportunities across the Company so that the value of every business decision is clear and well informed. Decision Evaluation achieves this by providing independent, robust and high-quality economic evaluations of proposed portfolio-level decisions and investment opportunities taking into account risks and uncertainties. To maximize our influence, we operate in a collaborative and commercially astute way.
Primary accountabilities are to create shareholder value by framing, evaluating and clearly communicating the risks and returns for capital allocation decisions, global functional initiatives and transactions to senior decision-makers. Working either independently or in a cross-functional project, planning or transaction teams, the role requires the ability to influence and challenge thinking, prepare concisely written reports, and clearly articulate outputs and insights to senior management and other key stakeholders.
**About You**:
Energetic and driven, you work well under pressure bringing attention to detail, and have the ability to meet multiple competing deadlines. You establish credibility through strong technical ability, leadership, and excellent communication skills. You relate well with people with an engaging style, allowing you to build strong working relationships.
You will have demonstrated experience in:
- Strong business acumen and financial modelling skills
- Financial evaluations to support investment decisions
- Mining, oil & gas, manufacturing and/or other process-driven industries
- Degree in a technical or business-related discipline; post-graduate qualifications (Master's in Finance, MBA) highly regarded
- Must be comfortable with ambiguity and change
