The purpose of the Centre for Research & Education on Violence Against Women and Children is to promote the development of community-centered action research on the prevention of violence against women and children. The Centre facilitates individuals, groups and institutions representing the diversity of the community to pursue research questions and training opportunities related to the understanding and prevention of abuse.

**Responsibilities**:
The Research Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating data collection and completion of research analysis for multiple projects at the Centre for Research & Education on Violence Against Women and Children (CREVAWC). The role will support the day-to-day administrative operations of the project including conducting research on core capacities that will be helpful to GBV organizations as they continue to design and implement sustainable and relevant training to strengthen collaborative community responses in Canada. The Research Coordinator will also identify protocols and strategies that will reduce risk and participate in the analysis and dissemination of research findings with the wider community. In addition, the role will liaise with a variety of stakeholders to ensure the successful coordination of all tasks to achieve the project outcomes and will assist in the preparation of reports and other written material for presentations and/or submissions to various stakeholders as required.

**Qualifications**:

- Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline
- Masters degree in a relevant discipline is preferred
- Experience:
- 3 years' working experience in a related academic research environment in the area of Gender-Based Violence

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Familiarity with regulations and guidelines governing research ethics in an academic environment and with best practices for reviewing and writing grant proposals
- Project management skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously from conception to completion within tightly prescribed timelines
- Familiarity with techniques for updating, managing and extracting data from a research database
- Ability to collaborate across internal and external boundaries to meet common objectives, improve outcomes and support work beyond one's own unit
- Verbal communication skills to clearly express ideas in an objective manner, and adapt communication style to suit the situation and audience
- Ability to work in a manner that models best practices in confidentiality standards
- Attention to detail and proofreading abilities with an excellent command of the English language
- Ability to work within a flexible schedule to accommodate the University’s events and activities
- Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
- Interpersonal skills to liaise with prospective and current students, staff, faculty and other members of the Western community
- Proven ability and natural inclination to develop relationships by interacting with people in a professional, respectful and diplomatic manner
