**Responsibilities**:
The Research Coordinator is responsible for the management and support of the day-to-day research and operational-related administration for the Centre for Functional and Metabolic Mapping (CFMM), a multi-faceted research and innovation core. The role is accountable for the coordination of MRI related research studies and clinical trials being carried out at the CFMM, as well as being responsible for key operational and administrative aspects of the core, including financial operations, communications and research reporting. The Research Coordinator liaises with a variety of stakeholders, including key health and research professionals as well as core staff, to facilitate relationship building and research capacity and to ensure the successful coordination of all tasks to achieve the research outcomes. The role oversees the daily operations, scheduling, logistics and administration of research activities and ensures that the CFMM meets high standards of care in research, is in compliance with best practices, regulations, standard operating procedures, University policies, and other relevant guidelines. The role collaborates with a large team of core employees and provides daily support to the CFMM Core Director.
**Qualifications**:
**Education**:
- Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration or a health-related discipline
**Experience**:
- 5 years of progressive administration experience, preferably in an academic setting, coordinating research and clinical programs
- Experience coordinating research studies
- Experience in ethics submissions, managing research budgets and monitoring accounts is preferred
- Experience working within an MRI environment and familiarity with data management is preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Familiarity with regulations and guidelines governing research ethics in an academic environment
- Knowledge of research administration principles
- Familiarity with financial principles and budgeting with the ability to ensure expenditures and resources are within allotments, and to make appropriate modifications when required
- Knowledge of University systems (e.g. ROLA, Western Financials, PeopleSoft) would be an asset
- Ability to plan and manage events of various sizes; familiarity with large scale events an asset
- Familiarity with Robarts and University research policies and practices would be an asset
- Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to collaborate across internal and external boundaries to meet common objectives, improve outcomes and support work beyond one's own unit
- Well-developed communication skills to interact with individuals and audiences inside and outside the University
- Ability to work in a manner that models best practices in confidentiality standards, particularly surrounding human and animal research
- Ability to provide solutions and ideas for improvement by using imaginative approaches where constructive thinking and innovation are required
- Attention to detail with an ability to retrieve, analyze and synthesize sizable amounts of data, while ensuring that information is accurate and comprehensive
- A desire to grow and advance skills through workshops and other professional developmental opportunities to enhance and disseminate knowledge
- Ability to remain highly motivated, resilient, innovative, and collaborative when faced with challenges
- Ability to work within a flexible schedule to accommodate the CFMM’s research schedule and activities
- Possess a reputation for resourcefulness with a strong sense of accountability and initiative
- Ability to evaluate issues, recognize potential problems and take action to proactively resolve issues
- Ability to adhere to legislated safety requirements and Western safety policies
- Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goals
