Arup is looking for a skilled M&C Knowledge Specialist to join our team in Canada. The role is responsible for supporting the Americas Region’s Skills Network Leader to develop our regional community to foster technical excellence, innovation, drive quality research programs, push our transformational initiatives, generate people of high skill and propel new directions for our business. We invest in this formal network to enable people to share their enthusiasm and interest in the M&C discipline, and to provide the space and time to effectively collaborate and share knowledge.
The M&C skills network engages across three centers of excellence: Marketing, Communications and Business Development, to implement programs which are relevant to the outcomes required of the whole team supporting Arup’s Go-To-Market strategy and enable the transformation of our membership to be radical, rigorous and creative in their pursuit of new and sustainable solutions for our clients, partners and the communities we impact in our work.
The Knowledge Specialist will work directly with the M&C Skills Network Leader and each the Center of Excellence Leaders to support the development of knowledge programs to support our membership. They will use the available tools which support discussions, learning, and knowledge sharing and will work to effectively engage the community and support the community at large.
**You will make an impact in this role by**:
Supporting each Skills Network Leader to engage effectively with the regional M&C community around our content by developing methods, tactics and approaches that can be implemented by the Skills Network using existing platforms and tools.
Guide the Skills Network and COE Leaders to manage the content on their sites in line with our global approach to knowledge and in a way that makes it easy for the whole community to connect and share.
Work to scale guidance, experience, and insights across all the regional M&C Skills Network to facilitate broad engagement in the Skills Networks and enable our people to benefit from the collateral (guidance, learning, research) produced by the Skills Networks.
Works with Skills Networks and Arup University to understand user needs and develops plans and processes to create quality interactions and collateral to inspire change and support our business.
Works closely with the technical developers and stakeholders to influence improvements to tools used by the Skills Networks.
Develops strong relationships with the M&C Skills Network Leaders, M&C CoE Leaders and M&C members and others involved in the Skills Network to develop approaches (behaviors and processes) that work across the suite of tools, communicating best practice widely.

- Broad experience with social media and marketing and the variety of different ways to reach people.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to explain approaches and systems; ability to translate between those developing technical systems and the end users.
- Experience in coaching others to adopt best practice approaches.
**Desired Qualifications**:
- You have excellent time management / prioritization skills, strong written English language skills, and exceptional attention to detail. You are outgoing and comfortable working with staff at all levels of seniority. You are proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office, especially InDesign, Acrobat, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Your positive attitude is as important as any specific skills you might bring to this role.
- You have a bachelor’s degree and excellent communication, writing, and organizational skills. Ideally, you bring 6+ years of experience as a knowledge specialist in the A/E/C industry, preferably in the public-sector realm or in another service industry.
- It would be great if you have experience with Microsoft platforms such as SharePoint, MS Teams, and MS Planner. Involvement with knowledge management association and or A/E/C organizations is a plus.
