Metro Roofing & Sheet Metal is seeking an experienced **Controller** to oversee our accounting operations and ensure the accuracy and integrity of our financial records. Reporting to the **Finance Manager**, this role will focus on maintaining strong financial controls, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This position does not involve staff management, financial planning, or decision-making responsibilities.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, reports, and reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, tax regulations, and financial reporting requirements.
- Oversee and manage month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Manage and oversee accounts receivable, ensuring timely invoicing, collections, and reconciliation. Support payroll processing as needed. Maintain accurate accounts payable records and oversee general ledger functions to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.
- Liaise with staff, vendors, and customers to resolve financial and account-related inquiries.

**Required Qualifications & Skills**:

- **Minimum 5 years** of professional accounting experience, preferably in the construction or related industry.
- Strong understanding of **GAAP** and financial reporting.
- Experience with **payroll processing**, tax compliance, and reconciliations.
- Proficiency in **accounting software and ERP systems**.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- **CPA, CA, or CMA designation** (or working towards certification).
- Experience in the construction sector.
- Strong knowledge of **GST, PST, and corporate tax filings**.
