**Position Summary**:
The Receptionist/Student Support Assistant provides linkages to services and support for adult learners in a vocational training institution. The Receptionist/Student Support Assistant is often the first point of contact for potential students and the general public, and plays a role in general office appearance, organization, and professional impression.
**Eligible Participants**
- First Nations and Inuit secondary and post-secondary students aged 15 to 30 inclusive;
- ordinarily resident on reserve or in recognized communities or on community lands;
- legally entitled to work in Canada; and
- registered as full-time students during the preceding academic year and who intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year.

**Qualifications/Requirements**:
- High school diploma, GED or Dogwood Diploma required.
- Minimum 6 months’ experience working as a receptionist.
- Minimum of 1 year experience providing student support services.
- Ability to work with students with diverse needs.
- High professional and ethical standards, including excellence in customer service delivery.
- Team player, but able to work independently when required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to adhere to Oath of Confidentiality and Seabird Island Band Policies and Procedures.
- Knowledge, respect and understanding of Stó:lō culture, traditions and language is considered an asset.
- Experience working with First Nations community is considered an asset.
- Valid BC Driver’s License, Class 5.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
**Primary Responsibilities**:
Reception:
- Provide a professional first point of contact for potential College students and the general public.
- Direct students to the appropriate staff member (i.e. Career Development Practitioner, Registrar, Program Instructor, etc.)
- Provide professional telephone service and messaging.
- Ensure the reception area, student lounge, and College administration space are professional in appearance and welcoming to the public.
- Work with administration and staff to organize programs, order and stock supplies and equipment.
- Prepare meeting rooms when required.
- Provides administrative support for staff and teachers, including photocopying, making telephone calls, filing, providing attendance records etc.
Student Support:
- Manage student attendance records and bring forward any concerns to the relevant instructor or Program Manager for follow up.
- Provide students with linkages to extra academic supports, tutoring, and community services.
- Provide student supports as needed and where applicable, and keep detailed records in student files of all supports provided.
- Assist with graduation preparation; and
- Coordinate student transportation.
