**What is the opportunity**: Reporting to the HSE Director, the Health, Safety and Environmental Specialist (HSE) will collaborate with plant management implementing HSE best practices and culture, train employees on safety policies and practices, conduct regular inspections, generate health and safety assessment reports, and ensure that all occupational guidelines and regulations are followed. Through collaboration and open dialogue with local leadership, you'll have the opportunity to make an immediate impact

This role will be an onsite position based at our Edmonton, Alberta location.

**Responsibilities**:

- Maintains fundamental knowledge of Thermon's specific HSE standards, programs and goals.
- Advises local leadership on HSE Management System compliance, reporting requirements and accountability related to incidents by actively participating in company safety committee meetings.
- Collaborates with local management team to implement and maintain HSE goals and objectives to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Conducts incident investigations and root cause analysis to identify underlying causes of safety incidents and implement measures to prevent reoccurrence. Reports and develops action plans related to safety incidents and near misses.
- Applies HSE procedures through employee trainings and new hire orientation.
- Ensures all required records and reporting are completed and accurate to ensure compliance, including OSHA reporting.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

**Basic Requirements**:

- 3+ years of HSE experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience conducting HSE employee and/or new hire training.
- Proficiency in computer programs such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills/ability to work with colleagues at all levels.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Organizational and time management skills.

**Preferred**:

- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Safety, Environmental Sciences or Engineering or related field of study.
- ASP, CSP, CIH or other certifications.
- 5+ years of HSE experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience implementing and maintaining ISO14001 and 45001 standards
- Advanced proficiency in computer programs such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Acute attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Strong project management skills
