Its business focus is on acquisition & upgrading of residential properties and managing its own portfolio of over 18,000 residential apartments in five major cities across Canada.
**Position Summary**
The Journeyman Plumber/Gasfitter works in collaboration with the Maintenance team and is responsible for all plumbing related duties in assigned location(s) within a residential multi-family setting.
**Key Duties and Responsibilities**
Read blueprints and drawings to understand or plan the layout of the installation of plumbing, waste disposal and water supply systems and determine the materials required, estimate material costs, as well as maintain inventory required
Conduct system inspections and testing to ensure all installations meet safety codes, regulations, and company standards
Install hot water tank and complete repair and maintenance, change gas valves, control modules
Locate and repair leaks and other issues with water supply lines, drain cleaning -kitchen sinks, toilets, etc.
Repair or replace broken drainage lines, clogged drains, faucets etc.
Install and service different types of boilers
Cut, assemble and install pipes and tubes with attention to existing infrastructure
Repair domestic appliances and fixtures
- taps, sinks, toilets etc.
Install and maintain gas and liquid heating systems (air-conditioning units, radiators etc.), HVAC
Install and maintain water supply waste disposal and sanitary systems
Install, maintain and service gas heating units and their components, such as burners, valves and automatic controls
Test and replace defective equipment or components
Test and adjust control mechanisms and check pipes and piping connections for gas leaks using gas detecting devices
Attend to gas escape calls and assist in the investigation of gas fires and explosions
Repair and service gas appliances and related equipment.
Maintain records of work performed and condition of facilities, materials used, and any follow-up required
Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and local building codes, identifying and mitigating potential hazards.
Be part of on-call and attend to emergencies as necessary and as scheduled by Facility Manager
Other relevant duties assigned by Regional Manager/Facilities Manager
**Qualifications and Requirements**
Journeyman Plumber certification, Gas certification
Strong working knowledge of building and boiler systems/hot water tanks/furnaces
Strong working knowledge of heating and ventilation (HVAC) systems as well as appliances
Experience in multi-family residential buildings an asset
Experience using power tools safely and effectively is essential
Must have own tools
Must possess a valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle to use at work
Must successfully complete a security clearance
