**PURPOSE**

The Plant Operations Foreman is responsible for the safe and efficient functioning of the Process Plant, thereby ensuring that established production targets are met or exceeded.

**ACCOUNTABILITY**

This position reports directly to the Plant General Foreman and directly supervises plant operators and heavy equipment operators.

**RESPONSIBILITIES & PERFORMANCE STANDARDS**
- ** **Manage a multi skilled workforce in a unionized environment.
- Supervise, coach and lead personnel to ensure that all safety and operational procedures are being followed and proper housekeeping is maintained.
- Monitor Plant equipment, instruments and production targets/specifications.
- Plan the daily work schedules to ensure the effective use of resources.
- Identify training needs and development of the crew to ensure that appropriate training programs are developed to improve employee skills and operations effectiveness.
- Conduct performance reviews and ongoing coaching with employees
- Complete time sheets, shift reports and incident reports as required.
- Conduct incident investigations consistent with established protocols.
- Conduct tool box and monthly safety meetings and attend Manager’s meetings as required.
- Comply with all OHS requirements and other related government regulations.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

Education
- Minimum grade 12 is required. Post secondary coursework/training in processing is beneficial.

Experience
- Minimum of 2 years experience in Process Plant operations is required including recent Control Room experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Extensive knowledge of coal preparation, Control Room operations and all Plant circuits
- Knowledge of safety procedures and related legislation
- Knowledge of basic mechanical and improvement methods.
- Ability to prioritize work schedules to meet the demand of the Plant.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent supervisory and motivating skills.
- Understanding of scheduling and payroll guidelines, Occupational Safety and Health regulations and disciplinary procedures.
- Proficiency with all Microsoft suite programs.

**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS**
- ** **Lift up to 10 kg.
- Valid drivers license and experience driving 4x4 vehicle, forklift and skid-steer.
- Stay alert during periods of inactivity for more than 60 minutes.
- Concentrate for over 60 consecutive minutes.
- Listen for quiet sounds.
- Hear specific noises over background noises.

**WORK ENVIRONMENT**

The incumbent works at the CST Coal Mine Site facility on a 7-day on/7-day off, 12 hour day / night schedule. Overtime and being on stand-by or ready for call-outs may be required due to the nature of the work. He/she is in a plant setting approximately 85% of the time, in an office setting 10% of the time and working outdoors 5% of the time and is exposed to coal dust, chemicals or fumes and loud, continuous noise levels that require hearing protection. As a condition of employment, the incumbent is required to comply with pre-employment drug and alcohol testing as per the Company Drug and Alcohol Policy. As required, personal protective equipment will include the use of an approved hard hat, safety glasses, steel toe boots, hearing protection, CSA approved respiratory protection, protective clothing and gloves.
