**Replacement Learning Support Coordinator Job Description**

The Learning Support Coordinator is responsible for the overall coordination of the Kells' Special Education and Learning Support programs to support students and teachers.

**Responsibilities**:

- Oversees and manages special education students and writing and implementation of their IEP plans in: inclusive, self-contained, and pull-out settings.
- Supports non-IEP students having academic difficulty.
- Follows student’s progress in all disciplines by reviewing comprehensive files and assisting, writing, and revising IEPs on a regular basis with teachers in order to adjust programs if necessary and revise and set objectives.
- Ensures that students are seen regularly, at intervals, and in groups most appropriate to meet their needs.
- Identifies and develops appropriate curriculum and school-based assessments to support the academic growth of students with IEP plans.
- Ensures IEPs are developmentally appropriate, curriculum/standards-based, strength-based, and relevant to individual students.
- Coordinates with the teachers to ensure all documents and/or assessments are completed in a timely manner.
- Supports teachers in digitizing summative assessments.
- Ensures appropriate delivery of special education instruction and related services as stipulated on IEP plans.
- Ensures compliance by the school with all Ministry regulations related to students with IEP plans and students referred to special education.
- Serves as a resource for teachers in planning modified and adapted programs and ensures that services provided by teachers are of high quality and are aligned with student's IEP plans.
- Coordinates with teachers as to how Kells students are functioning in the regular class and helps in the adaptation of regular material.
- Integrates new developments, research findings, and best practices into ongoing programs and new initiatives.
- Attends, contributes to, and completes follow up for weekly Student Concerns Team meeting
- Arranges meetings and communications with parents and teachers concerning students' IEP's and progress.
- Coordinates with teachers to complete quarterly IEP progress reports and provide quarterly IEP progress reports to parents/guardians.
- Effectively communicates to parents and guardians the special education process including the process for referrals, evaluations, annual IEP plans, and evaluations.
- Facilitates the IEP meetings using a strengths-based and family-centered approach.
- Facilitates workshops/meetings for teachers or parents, and identifies resources for students with special needs.
- Liaison with the guidance counselor regarding Individualized Educational Plans (I.E.P.) and student conduct.
- Engages parents and families in their student’s learning and acts as an ambassador for the school in the community.
- As appropriate, connects with students’ outside providers, psychologists, pediatricians, and therapists to support students' needs in the classroom.
- Maintains confidentiality of student records and student information.
- Integrates the use of appropriate technology to facilitate IEPs and maximize student achievement for class work, exam writing, and homework.
- Monitors student usage of online programs and progress. Trains students and faculty in the use of WordQ, Antidote and other learning tools.
- Builds a repertoire of instructional materials for all academic levels.
- Works with small groups to provide classroom support, study skills, and remedial language and math support as well as enrichment.
- Offers support for summer programs.
- Manages the Kells peer tutoring program and refers students for learning support through outside tutors and agencies as needed.

**Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in special education; masters preferred
- Successful experience in learning support at the high school level
- Strong English language skills
- Working knowledge of French preferred

**Schedule and Accountability**
- 8:00 am - 4:00 pm Monday - Friday (full-time)
- Beginning September 2025
- Reports to the principal

- French not required

- Monday to Friday
