Job Summary

UBC Health has a mandate to facilitate interprofessional education and interdisciplinary research initiatives that enhance the ways we train people, develop knowledge, and shape policy, seeking to address inequities and improve the systems that produce health. It advances these aims by promoting and facilitating equitable collaborations across disciplines and faculties, as well as with communities, institutions, and government organizations around the province. UBC Health operates through the Office of the Vice-President, Health, with team members working across the province. The Program Coordinator facilitates the development, delivery, and evaluation of interprofessional collaborative health initiatives and the expansion of interprofessional education to the distributed sites. The Program Coordinator supports initiatives in each of the regions where health professional students are trained - Vancouver, Prince George, Surrey, Victoria, and Kelowna.

This role requires project management and coordination skills to facilitate initiatives that foster interdisciplinary collaboration. Initiatives in UBC Health’s education core area include building and sustaining collaborations among UBC Health faculties, departments, and schools, emphasizing community engagement and innovation; and facilitating the development and delivery of central and regional approaches to interprofessional learning. The position also requires considerable judgment and problem-solving skills to develop approaches and techniques to achieve strategic goals and objectives. Leveraging strong organizational and communication skills, the incumbent will ensure that all project activities are executed following timelines, budgets, high standards of quality and ethics, and emerging best practices for partner, patient, and community engagement and relationship management.

Organizational Status

UBC Health is responsible for driving the vision of the Vice-President, Health portfolio by promoting an integrated approach to collaboration amongst all health programs at UBC and with external partners in the health sector. UBC Health serves as a resource to all health disciplines at UBC Vancouver (UBCV), UBC Okanagan (UBCO), and at distributed sites in Prince George, Victoria and Surrey where UBC health professional students are trained. The Program Coordinator will manage projects at different sites across the province. The position reports to the Assistant Director, Education situated in UBC Vancouver. The incumbent works in close collaboration with other members of the Office of the Vice-President, Health in UBC Vancouver and other sites across the province, with faculty and staff members from various academic units, and with partners internal and external to UBC. The Program Coordinator is a full-time 2-year term position, with possibility of renewal upon evaluation. The incumbent may be located in the Lower Mainland or at a UBC distributed site (Prince George, Victoria) and will be expected to travel to Vancouver, Prince George, Surrey, Victoria, and Kelowna regularly.
