The Faculty is dedicated to maintaining its international reputation for research excellence and innovative academic programming. **Responsibilities**: The Media Technician provides effective and efficient technology and multimedia services and support for the Faculty of Arts & Humanities as a member of the Technical Services team. The role develops and designs content and ensures organization of websites and social media, provides technical support and training to users for websites and media programs, and liaises with WTS in regard to website and server issues. The Media Technician administers, maintains and provides technical and troubleshooting support for classrooms, the Language Learning Centre and computer laboratories, and provides guidance and training to staff, faculty and students on equipment use. The role also provides support for the configuration, installation, support, maintenance and repair of hardware and software, computer and media technologies as required. **Qualifications**: - Education: - 2 year Community College Diploma in an Information Technology or Computer Technology field - Courses taken in website design or website graphic design as an area of focus is preferred - Experience: - 1 year of experience configuring, designing and supporting website development and HTML coding - Experience working with a variety of operating systems, providing hardware and software installation, maintenance, support and troubleshooting - Experience with networking using workstations, laptops, mobile devices and servers - Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: - Knowledge of Apple and Windows operating systems - Familiarity with audio/visual equipment and technologically enhanced classrooms, equipment and software (such as OWL/Sakai) - Mechanical aptitude with the ability to use hand and power tools for installation and maintenance of equipment (such as drills, impact drivers, grinders, pliers, screw drivers; soldering irons, multi-meters) - Excellent troubleshooting ability along with hands-on expertise in technical support - Verbal and written communication skills with an ability to document technical information and provide presentations - Ability to establish rapport with people from diverse backgrounds - Ability to maintain a positive, outgoing attitude with genuine customer service orientation - Ability to process information with a high degree of accuracy, and follow formal business practices with high attention to detail - Ability to multi-task and maintain an organized and effective personal work environment - Adapts readily and effectively to changing priorities and demands - Personable and courteous in working relationships with colleagues, faculty members, students and the public - Ability to interact professionally with students, staff, faculty, and other members of the University community - Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goals **Union Statement**: **Western Values Diversity**: **Please Note**: We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those chosen for an interview will be contacted.
