The “Canadian Youth Mental Health Insight (CYMHI) Platform” is a pioneering youth mental health project that will enhance Canada’s understanding of youth mental health needs and advance new assessment and treatment approaches. The (CYMHI) Platform will use open data, machine learning and advanced analytics methods to improve communication between youth and families, researchers, clinicians and other service providers with diverse mental health experiences and specializations.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Platform Development**:

- Build web-based tools and interfaces that allow users to independently publish, discover, and consume data products within the data platform
- Develop features for metadata management, data lineage tracking, and access control requests through intuitive UIs.
- Create dashboards for monitoring data product health, usage metrics, and compliance status.

**Frontend Development**:

- Design responsive, accessible, and user-friendly web interfaces using modern JavaScript or Python frameworks (e.g., **React**,**Streamlit, etc.**).
- Implement data visualization components (e.g., charts, tables, maps, and graphs) to help users explore and analyze data products.
- Adhere to best practices in UX and UI design

**Backend Development**:

- Develop APIs and microservices to support platform functionality, such as data product registration, schema validation, and access provisioning.
- Integrate with backend data lake/lakehouse (e.g., Trino, MinIO, PostgreSQL) to enable seamless data interactions.
- Implement authentication and authorization mechanisms (e.g., OAuth 2.0, Keycloak) to secure sensitive healthcare data.

**Compliance & Security**:

- Embed features such as masking of PHI, audit logging, and alerts
- Adhere to healthcare-specific security protocols (e.g., encryption, audit logging) and ensure compliance with HIPAA (if applicable) and Canadian regulations.
- Collaborate with the hospital’s IT security team to conduct regular vulnerability assessments and updates.

**Collaboration & Support**:

- Work closely with domain teams (clinicians, researchers, analysts) to understand their needs and co-design solutions.
- Provide training and documentation to help users adopt the self-serve platform effectively.

**Job Requirements**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3-5 years of experience in full-stack web development.
- Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue.js) or Python packages such as Streamlit.
- Experience using Figma or similar tools to create UI mockups and designs
- Experience with Node.js and Python (Django/Flask)
- Strong knowledge of SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
- Experience with RESTful APIs and data serialization (JSON, XML).
- Familiarity with micro-service architecture principles
- Familiarity with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Understanding of healthcare data standards (e.g., FHIR, HL7) is a plus.
- Knowledge of Canadian privacy laws (PIPEDA, PHIPA) and security best practices.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders (e.g., clinicians, administrators).
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Experience working in healthcare, non-profits, or regulated industries.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS)
- Experience with GitOps workflows for Kubernetes deployments
