The Occupational Health & Safety Coordinator is responsible for working with the Manager of Occupational Health and Safety on the on-going development and company adherence to the health and safety programs for West Edmonton Mall Property Inc. as well as monitoring employees and subcontractors working within the facility with respect to adherence to company safety policies, practices, procedures, and legislative requirements.
**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Developing and enhancing the OH&S policies, procedures, reports, audits and compliance order adherences for West Edmonton Mall Property Inc. properties including West Edmonton Mall, Fantasyland Hotel, West Edmonton Mall Inn and Triple Five entities.
- Utilizing applied knowledge of the OH&S Code while performing regular worksite observations and inspections to various construction and maintenance projects to ensure all required health and safety protocols and procedures are adhered to, while maintaining detailed and accurate reports of compliance or deficiencies and/or areas of concerns.
- Overseeing the process to ensure all departments have up to date, and required, job hazard assessments and SDS documentation as per compliance regulations.
- Assisting with the activities of the company’s WCB claims management program for West Edmonton Mall, Fantasyland Hotel and West Edmonton Mall Inn and acting as a liaison between WCB and our organization.
- Completion of daily required tracking and documentation on activities, site inspections, and required legislative compliance research and reports along with entering related safety information into required databases.
- Coordinating and facilitation of required safety training programs and courses including but not limited to; forklift, mobile elevated work platform, fall protection, job hazard assessment, lock out/tag out, incident investigation, WHMIS, respirator fit testing, audiometric testing, etc.
- Being called upon to assist with OH&S emergency situations and required meetings with the ability to convey and follow required OH&S legislation to senior management.
- Acting as a health and safety leader when dealing with coworkers while demonstrating a high standard of safety conduct, behavior, and attitude towards a positive and safe workplace culture.
- Ordering and maintaining appropriate OH&S related supplies, materials and equipment from various vendors, sources and providers.
- Other responsibilities as required.

**DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Completion of a certificate, diploma, or degree in OH&S or related program
- A minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of previous experience in OH&S or related HR industry.
- A high level of professionalism complemented by excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills with strong documentation abilities with working knowledge of the OH&S Act, Regulations and Code.
- Previous experience with WCB claims management is an asset.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and have/or be willing to obtain related safety training and/or train the trainer certifications.
- A high level of comfort speaking in front of groups and the ability to facilitate in house safety related training programs and meetings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs: Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint with the ability to adapt to new programs and software in the workplace.
- Must have an interest and ability to work on creating and updating in-house, online OH&S training related programs and information sessions through internal software platforms and systems.

**TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT**:

- This is a full-time position required to be available Monday through Friday, 8:30am - 5pm on site at West Edmonton Mall.
- This role is required to have some flexibility availability for specific on-site special projects on occasion and this role is required to carry a company cell phone and must be available to respond in the rare case of emergency situations.
- This position is also eligible for participation in our 4-day work week program.
- This is a salaried position that will depend on experience and qualifications.
- Must be able to pass a basic security clearance.
