Produce Production Supervisor

**WHAT THE ROLE IS**:
As a member of the Production Line team, you will perform work in a team-based setting, operating various equipment and/or performing tasks that contribute to the production high quality produce. In this role you will work with mínimal supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement.

The Production Supervisor performs a wide variety of duties to support the daily management of the production department. They will supervise the department and staff and act as the go to person in the absence of the Department Manager and Assistant. These responsibilities include management of all functions of quality control, sanitation, and stock rotation.; as well as, planning, assigning, and leading the work of others.

**TWO SHIFTS/SCHEDULE AVAILABLE**:
Ability to work weekends Saturday and Sunday + 3 days during the week (weekdays are flexible).
- Shift 1: Saturday (5:00am to 1:30pm), Sunday (9:00am to 5:30pm), Weekdays (5:00am to 1:30pm)
- Shift 2: Saturday (7:00am to 3:30pm), Sunday (11:00am to 7:30pm), Weekdays (12:00pm to 8:30pm)

**WHAT YOU WILL DO**:

- Daily Production Line duties include producing high-quality fresh-cut fruits and vegetables for local foodservice and retail markets; learning to use dicers, cutters, slicers, and packaging equipment.
- Ensures completion of and review daily production quality check sheets.
- Regularly review the progress of work in department to ensure that staff are supported, questions have been answered, and problems solved.
- Help ensure that the quality and freshness of produce is always maintained throughout the department.
- Supports the production management team with coordinating and scheduling the timely processing of product according to customer requirements.
- Take direction from the Production Manager and keep him informed of department activities on an on-going basis.
- Operate or perform other duties as directed by the Production Manager.

**EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION**:

- Ability to supervise 5-20 staff.
- Previous produce experience is an asset.
- Previous Kitchen and management experience is an asset.

**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS**:

- Ability to safely bend, twist and lift up to 50 lbs. on a consistent basis.
- Ability to walk and stand for the duration of scheduled shift.
- Ability to maintain a safe working environment and follow all safety procedures.

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- Food Safe Level 1 (Islands West will provide).
- Hepatitis A Vaccination (Islands West will provide).
- Must have valid work authorization in Canada.
- As this role is onsite, you must currently reside in Victoria, BC.
