Produce Grader/sorter

**WHAT THE ROLE IS**:
As a member of the Quality Assurance team, the Grader will perform a wide variety of tasks including grading, sorting, or classifying unprocessed produce by size, weight, color, or condition that contributes to the production high quality produce. Working with mínimal supervision, and with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement.

**SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS**:

- SHIFT: Monday to Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm (Some shifts may vary)
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, for 40+ hours/week.

**WHAT YOU WILL DO**:

- Grades all product(s) according to Islands West specifications and understands quality concerns of all products.
- Maintain product quality standards that meet product specifications. - Maintain a safe, sanitized, and organized department that meets all food safety requirements.
- Able to safely stock and put away all products.
- Works with mínimal supervision and from the guidance of their Supervisor/Operations Manager.
- Conducts inventory counts as directed.
- Completes and forwards paperwork as directed.
- Ensures only the best possible product for the customer with great attention to detail.
- Attends as directed, all team meetings, training meetings and/or professional development sessions.
- Operate or perform other duties as directed by the Supervisor/Operations Manager.

**EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION**:

- Has a level of knowledge of produce and produce quality, along with general warehouse procedures.
- Pallet-jack and forklift experience an asset.

**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS**:

- Ability to safely bend, twist and lift to 50 lbs. on a consistent basis.
- Ability to walk and stand for the duration of scheduled shift.
- Ability to work in a refrigerated environment.

**GENERAL**

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- Food Safe Level 1 (Islands West will provide).
- Hepatitis A Vaccination (Islands West will provide).
- Must have valid work authorization in Canada.
- As this role is onsite, you must currently reside in Victoria, BC.
