**) International Student Coordinator**. The International Student Coordinator provides international students with immigration advising services to ensure that international students are compliant with study and work permit requirements. As the main resource for Immigration Refugees Citizenship Canada (IRCC) procedures and updates, the Coordinator serves as a liaison with other Institute departments to communicate changes to IRCC guidelines within the community. This position also tracks the status of prospective and current international students, develops and maintains data collection procedures, produces and reviews a variety of internal and external reports related to international student status, and organizes and participates in orientation, workshops and other events.**Duties & Responsibilities**

- Advises international students on Immigration Refugees Citizenship Canada (IRCC) requirements for studying in Canada through drop-in inquiries, appointments and workshops.
- Considers complexity of students’ history, assists students with IRCC regulations regarding conditions for study and work permits.
- Ensures all international students are study and work permit compliant and appropriate medical insurance procedures are followed; regularly reviews student data to ensure compliance, follows up and resolves non-compliance issues with students.
- Prepares and submits the Immigration Refugees Citizenship Canada (IRCC) Compliance Report and other government reports as required.
- Maintains extensive knowledge on IRCC policies, procedures and regulations pertaining to international student requirements.
- Produces a variety of reports regarding international students, tracks student progress and provides a summary of data review and analysis to management as needed.
- Establishes and maintains surveys completed by international students; compiles results, produces, prepares, and presents reports to department managers.
- In conjunction with department managers, schedules and organizes student, faculty or staff workshops on wide range of topics; for example, Medical Service Plan (MSP) and other governmental requirements for students studying in Canada.
- Leads the development and maintenance of standard international student data collection procedures for Banner.
- Acts as the resource for IRCC procedures and updates; serves as a liaison with other departments to ensure that changes to IRCC guidelines are communicated to the community when required and procedures are updated accordingly.
- Ensures that the BCIT International website is current and designed in alignment with the institutional strategic direction and IRCC guidelines.
- Establishes and maintains database for purposes of tracking and staying in touch with international alumni.
- Serves as a member of the International Student Orientation Committee to support planning, coordination and delivery of International Orientation.
- Acts as the homestay contact; finds new homestay accommodations; resolves disputes and follows-up on issues related to the international student Homestay program.
- Works with department managers to develop and coordinate a new international student follow-up program that assists in smooth entry and enhanced experiences at the Institute.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge in the areas of international education, cultural diversity and immigration regulations through regular attendance at workshops, conferences and other professional development training.
- Provides support to new initiatives and special projects as assigned by the manager.
- Participates in Records Custodian training and remains current with record keeping practices, policies and procedures (both BCIT and FOIPOP).
- Undertakes related duties as assigned, consistent with the job grade of this position.
**Qualifications**
**QUALIFICATIONS***:

- **Education**:
- Grade 12 plus up to two years of post-secondary education including courses in business administration, communications, and financial/marketing management.
- Completed or nearly completion of certification from Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council (ICCRC) as a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) or Regulated International Student Immigration Advisor (RISIA).
**Experience**:
- Two years general plus two years relevant experience in a similar position, including experience with post-secondary international student.
