We are a harm-reduction community clinic located in East Toronto. We are looking for a dynamic individual to provide phlebotomy, ECG and secretarial services to our clients. This is a permanent part-time position.

The individual will provide secretarial, phlebotomy and ECG services to the patient population of an addiction medicine clinic. He/She will assess, manage and support patients, providing appropriate documentation, and will work collaboratively with the physicians to implement care plans and provide follow-up with the patient. He/She will work to their full scope of practice within the addiction medicine setting; some duties will vary depending on the Clinic and patient population.

As a **Medical Secretary / Phlebotomist** at our community addiction clinic, you will play a vital role in ensuring efficient clinic operations and providing quality patient care. Your responsibilities will include a combination of administrative tasks and phlebotomy duties.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Administrative Tasks**:

- **Patient Communication**: Handle phone calls, inquiries, and appointment scheduling. Provide compassionate and accurate information to patients.
- **Appointment Coordination**: Schedule patient appointments, manage calendars, and coordinate with healthcare providers.
- **Record Keeping**: Maintain electronic health records (EHRs) and organize patient files
- **General Office Support**: Assist with office supplies, mail distribution, and other administrative tasks.
- **Phlebotomy Duties**:

- **Blood Collection**: Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws on patients of varying ages.
- **Sample Labeling and Handling**: Properly label and handle blood specimens for accurate testing.
- **Patient Interaction**: Ensure patient comfort, explain procedures, and address any concerns.
- **Adherence to Protocols**: Follow infection control guidelines, safety protocols, and ethical standards.
- **Collaboration**: Work closely with physicians, nurses, and laboratory staff to coordinate blood collection and testing.

**Qualifications**:

- **Education**: High school diploma or equivalent. Certification in phlebotomy preferred.
- Internationally trained RNs/RPNs are welcome.
- **Skills**:

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
- Compassion, empathy, and a patient-centered approach.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
