**Position Summary**:
The Residential Care Worker supports and facilitates the daily activities of residents related to each individual’s recovery plan.

**Qualifications**:

- **Education/Certification**:

- Post-secondary education related to health care or human services preferred
- Current 1st Aide Certification required
- ** Knowledge, Skills and Ability**:

- Ability to be flexible to meet different shift schedules as required
- Ability to respond to immediate resident issues while maintaining work on long term goals
- Ability to provide a functional assessment of observed behavior
- Thorough knowledge of life skills and ability to teach same

**Principle Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Implements the residential recovery plan:

- Assists residents to work toward clearly set goals and help make decisions based on the resident’s values (i.e. teaching and supporting the practice of activities of daily living)
- Organizes and facilitates psycho-social education in individual and group settings:

- Encouraging the practice of appropriate coping strategies
- Organizes, facilitates and assists in the performance of routine household tasks:

- Encourages participation of all residents in household routines
- Facilitates skill acquisition as it relates to resident participation in carrying out household tasks
