We have a great opportunity for an enthusiastic and strategic individual to join our team as the Assistant General Manager.

- Experience with managing strategic and operations planning and execution: delivering business and financial management including financing, pricing, margins, P&L, accounting principles.
- A leader with experience working with Boards, the community and the government.
- Able to think and operate both short and long term, be able to achieve short term revenue and profit targets without sacrificing long term goals.
- Excellent communicator and team player who works closely with others to achieve common goals.
- Possess solid not-for profit values, including the ability to discern when it is appropriate to fix versus replace resources and equipment, and creativity to recycle and upcycle to maximize resources and budget.
- Skilled at conflict resolution, able to diagnose problems quickly and accurately, effectively resolving customer and employee issues.
- Focused on client relationships, teamwork, quality and open to continuously learning.
- Understanding of the events and agriculture industries: involved in delivering operations support to a major event with 15,000+ guests.
- Working with Contractors to support event delivery through excellent operational support.
- Committed to delivering successful events at the CRE through a proactive and hands-on approach during events, which includes facility cleaning and supporting the Operations with maintenance of CRE facilities and grounds.
- Understanding of inventory management and effective purchasing practices.
- Proactive safety attitude and ability to motivate others to work safely.
- Strong computer skills and ability to use Google and Microsoft suites of programs.
**What You Will Do**:
- Working closely with the Executive Director and the Board, you will deliver the Operations, Financial and Governance requirements of the CRE.
- Hire, lead, develop, motivate, performance manage and terminate employees in alignment with our values and policies, creating a culture that is rooted in safety, integrity, excellent customer service and a drive for results.
- Support strategy development, execution planning and implementation for both short
- & long-term goals. Effectively communicate strategic plans and business goals to employees, motivate and empower them to contribute to the CRE’s success.
- Support and deliver the CRE safety program and initiatives; maintain compliance with all safety policies and procedures and ensure utilization of safe work practices on the grounds and in the facilities through regular inspections.
- Establish and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders to drive growth and revenue. Maintain a positive attitude and communication style with clients, employees and guests in all circumstances.
- Support the CRE’s financial planning, analysis, budgeting, P&L and reporting to ensure effective decision-making and efficient operations.
- Lead efforts to identify appropriate grants, and secure funding for strategic and operational initiatives.
- Ensure contracts meet CRE expectations for liability, responsibility and general terms through managing legal agreements, utilizing appropriate templates and legal documents, working with external counsel as required.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable local, provincial and federal laws and statutes.
- Analyze risks and develop risk management controls and contingency plans for the organization and its events.
- Support the development and implementation of a strategic sales and marketing plans to increase brand awareness, expand CRE’s client base and the achievement of short
- and long-term sales and profitability targets.
- Advise on quotes for complex events, ensuring appropriate estimates have been completed, pertinent clauses are included, and pricing is aligned with CRE standards.
- Provide operational and strategic support to our partners for successful event delivery.
- Work cohesively with the Operations Team to meticulously maintain the CRE facilities and grounds during events.
- Attend community and industry events, meetings and conferences as appropriate to promote CRE and maintain a high profile in the community.
- In collaboration with the Executive Director and marketing consultant, develop and implement a marketing plan to increase brand awareness.
