Financial Analyst

Exempt 6 $69,834 - $88,679

**Position Summary**:
**Major Responsibilities**:
Monitor, analyze and maintain all capital projects and program budgets including the tracking and analyzing of all expenditures related to capital projects

Prepare, review and report on projects, budgets, and variance analysis of accounts

Responsible for Ministry capital reporting and tracking requirements for on-going and year end capital needs

Support Plant and Planning departments to plan, budget, monitor and report on the Board’s Capital Program both internally and externally (e.g. Ministry facilities and capital systems)

Maintain Tangible Capital Asset processes/accounts and identify and resolve data transition issues

Liaise with municipalities in the collection and reporting of tax levies and Education Development Charges

Prepare capitalization of assets and run calculation of amortization monthly

Review financial transactions to ensure appropriateness of postings

Assist in the development, enhancement and implementation of financial reporting processes/procedures for Finance departments

Prepare year end audit schedules, working with external auditors and Ministry staff

Assist in Finance departmental workflow and duties as assigned

**Qualifications and Experience**:
Professional designation or working towards a CPA or equivalent

Minimum experience of 5 years in Finance/Accounting

Experience in SAP an asset

Experience in Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB) an asset

**Skills and Competencies**:
Experience in report preparation

Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and ability to multi-task

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Strong interpersonal skills, competence in working with various levels of Management and Ministry and other external contacts

Strong leadership skills and ability to work independently
