**The Role**

The Community Peace Officer is primarily responsible for ensuring compliance with various municipal bylaws, through the principles of education, awareness and enforcement, in partnership with the community, Fire Department, RCMP and other Town departments. This position involves regular interaction with the community through patrols, regular traffic enforcement, handling of citizen inquiries and the investigation of complaints related to bylaws and provincial statutes. The Community Peace Officer will be required to build and maintain positive relationships with residents and other stakeholders within the community. Emergency Response responsibilities may be required in support of the High River Fire Department or in conjunction with the RCMP. This position will promote public awareness and education within the community, exercising sound judgement and knowledge to encourage voluntary compliance with the Town’s bylaws through education before regulation. The Community Peace Officer will work in conjunction with the Team Lead, Bylaw Services to provide service excellent to the Town of High River and foster a workplace culture focused on Accountability, Excellence and Connection.

**Minimum Qualifications**:
You have a grade 12 education or equivalent and have successfully completed the Alberta Public Security Peace Officer Program for a Community Peace Officer Level 1, or equivalent policing designation. In addition, you have three (3) to five (5) years’ working experience, preferably in a municipality. The eligibility to hold an appointment as a Community Peace Officer is required. Your exceptional customer service skills will support a positive workplace culture and experience for the community of High River.

**This competition will remain open until filled with the first review date being December 16, 2024**.

Pay: From $46.90 per hour
