**Canada Summer Jobs - Administrative Assistant**

**(8 week summer Contract)**

Hiatus House, a shelter for abused women and their children, requires an Administrative Assistant under a Canada Summer Jobs Grant. We are seeking an individual to be responsible for administrative duties that might include writing, report development, organizing files, policy review, and other related tasks as assigned.

**Qualifications**:

- Currently or recently completed post secondary education in any field.
- Experience with and knowledge of computer and software use.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to maintain the confidentiality of information of both clients and employees.
- Ability to function independently and as a team member.
- Ability to communicate professionally in written and oral French is preferred.
- Proficiency in other languages is preferred.
- Must be between 15 and 30 years of age and be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred.

**Major Duties**:

- Is accountable for providing support to senior leadership team members as needed.
- To review and organize information as assigned.
- To review and organize policy information as assigned.
- To fill in for reception duties as needed.
- To search and document information for the creation of reports.
- To be familiar with and adhere to the philosophy of Hiatus House.
- Attend and participate in agency meetings as required.
- Carry out other duties as assigned.

Pay: From $17.50 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
