A System Administrator, also called a Network Administrator, takes care of computer systems and networks. Their duties include maintaining websites, monitoring and optimizing connectivity and installing server hardware and software.
Your goal will be to ensure that our technology infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently.
**What does a System Administrator do?**
A System Administrator supervises the operation of a computer network for an organization and makes sure that servers function properly, allowing customers and employees to communicate with each other, coordinate their actions and take care of essential tasks. System Administrators work in a variety of industries, so a System Administrator’s day-to-day activities often vary, from helping new users get started to looking for threats or errors on the local network to upgrading software. They spend most of their time in offices, and some visit multiple business locations regularly. Some System Administrators work from home for some or all of every week
**Responsibilities for System Administrator**
- Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization
- Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes
- Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues
- Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure
- Perform or delegate regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures
**Requirements and skills**
- Proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administratoror similar role
- Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN) and patch management
- Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery
- Ability to create scripts in Python, Perl or other language
- Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms
- Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude
- Excellent communication skills
**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 8 per week
**Salary**: $35.00-$50.00 per hour
