**Position Title: Quality Assurance Technician**
**Night Shift: 11:00 pm-7:30 am**
**Purpose**
To support the Quality / Plant Team in ensuring products meet the quality standards and food safety requirements of the Company and its customers. To proactively coordinate the fundamentals of GMP, HACCP and audit programs. Provide sound leadership and support to the plant employees. Assist with the implementation, monitoring and follow-up of quality assurance strategies and programs in all aspects of the production process.
**Job Functions /Responsibilities**:
- Assist in food safety (CFIA, 3rd Party and customer) audits and mock recalls.
- Work closely with QA Manager and plant management on special projects, e.g. continuous improvement - safety, product quality, etc.
- Assists the HACCP Coordinator with the annual HACCP system reassessment and other HACCP related tasks.
- Daily monitoring and verification of quality assurance processes and procedures in the facility.
- Assist with investigations, consumer/customer complaints
- Follows up with other departments on non-conformances, corrective and preventive actions, and validation activities to ensure completion in a timely manner
- Collect samples and assists with completion of tasks in the QA Microbiology and Chemistry Lab.
- Performs general lab procedures and other designated QA task, as needed.
- Maintain and update daily QA and plant reports; ensure accuracy and correctness of data
- Work closely with QA Manager and plant management on special projects, e.g. continuous improvement - safety, product quality, etc.
- Perform other duties assigned or required by QA/QC Manager.
- Routine QA Duties:
- Perform daily operational checks; verification of pre-operational checks, chemical concentration checks and conducts daily GMP audits.
- Perform CCP verifications e.g. metal detector checks
- Perform Thermometer Calibration, Light Intensity Checks, Monthly Glass/Brittle Plastic Monitoring; Monthly GMP Audits
- Perform finished product quality checks and collecting retention samples
- Perform incoming product quality checks
- Perform sampling of finished products for micro and physico-chemical analysis
- Perform evisceration, animal welfare, and other poultry inspection tasks
- Managing inventories for lab supplies
- Completing the Condemn Reports
- Filling, organizing and achieving the documents

**Qualification**:
- Possession of Diploma or University Degree in Food Science.
- Intermediate Proficiency in Microsoft Office (word, excel, outlook, etc).
- Basic knowledge in CFIA FSEP Manual and HACCP System preferred.
- Experience in a food processing facility is an asset.
