**Job description**
This position can be based in Surrey, BC or in the Okanagan, BC.
Under the direction of the VP of Quality & Innovation, the **Quality Assurance Specialist** is responsible for the company’s GFSI complaint Quality Management System. In addition, the QA Specialist will review and update all quality management documents and materials (on training, food safety and quality testing), and assist the quality team with monthly internal audits.
**Main Responsibilities**
- Assist in reviewing, updating, and maintaining the company’s GFSI compliant Quality Management System.
- Review and update quality management documents, identify gaps in the current documentation, and work towards closing those gaps either independently or with the involvement of the NMF team.
- Create and update programs and materials for training, food safety, quality, and testing. This includes preparing documents, protocols, work instructions etc. as required.
- Assist the quality team in monthly internal auditing of GMPs, sanitation and facility inspections and ensure that each department is up to date on the completion and submission of documentation and records.
- Maintain and review pest control records and equipment calibration schedules and records.
- Enter and evaluate results for product testing, environmental monitoring, utility monitoring and initiate corrective actions as needed.
- Assist and support the Quality Assurance Supervisor/Manager and the Vice President of Quality & Innovation with documentation, quality records and various tasks related to the Quality Management System.
- Play a key role in developing and establishing a GFSI compliant Quality Management System for a large second manufacturing site.
- Support Regulatory Affairs roles within the company as needed.
- Work closely and communicate with department heads, managers, and supervisors to assist with the completion and submission of records in a timely manner.
- Prepare and assist as needed for the achievement and maintenance of key certifications and licenses such as BRC, Kosher, SFCR, etc.
- Follow all Food Safety, HACCP, Quality and Operational procedures (SOPs) as defined in NMF’s Quality Management System.
- Use relevant software to enter data, compile reports and update documentation as required.
- Other projects and related duties as required.
**Qualifications Skills and Abilities**
- Post-Secondary Education (B.Sc. or College Diploma) in Food Technology/Food Science or other relevant training
- Minimum of 2 years Quality Assurance/ Quality Control experience in food manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of food safety (HACCP) and Quality of Management Systems
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Proven proficiency in the use of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Detail-orientated with strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication skills with all levels of the organization
- Able to work with mínimal supervision.

**Salary**: $50,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
