**Maintenance Technician**

**Job Title**: Maintenance Technician

**About the Affordable Housing Association of Nova Scotia**:AHANS is a non-profit housing provider that operates throughout the province. We are determined to provide affordable, accessible, and sustainable housing in every project we take on and manage. AHANS projects range from new construction to major renovations and conversions.

**Primary Duties Include**:

- Cleaning and refurbishing vacant units.
- Plaster/drywall repair and installation.
- Painting units & corridors.
- Removing garbage & heavy debris.
- Kitchen cabinetry and window screen repair.
- Cleaning heat pumps & air exchangers.
- Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on heating, plumbing, and electrical systems and appliances.
- Installing/ repairing interior entrance and closet doors, replacing deadbolts & passage sets.
- Clearing clogged drains and toilets.

**Accessory Duties**:

- Coordinating inspection and site visits with contractors.
- Working with property management team to meet tenant needs.
- Attending team meetings as needed.

**Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities**:

- Work well under pressure with the ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks.
- Physically demanding — combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching and kneeling.
- Weight handling up to 50 lbs.

**Typical Working Hours**: Monday to Friday, 9:00am until 4:30pm. On-call and after-hours work required. On-call hours are assigned on a rotating basis.
**Required Experience**:
Handyman or maintenance experience of 5 years or more.

Working knowledge of a Property Management software would be an asset. Knowledge of, and willingness to engage in, Trauma Informed Practices.
