**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Provides health and cultural support services to Indian Day School (IDS) survivors and their family members
- Conducts community outreach to inform community members about available support services offered locally
- Provides workshops and support groups locally for IDS survivors and their family members
- Upon request, assists clients seeking mental health counselling services to access registered providers either through the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch (NIHB/Indian Residential Schools - Resolution Health program) or direct referral to a registered mental health provider
- Works with partners to inform IDS survivors and their family members about other support services (e.g., victim support services), including eligibility criteria, and where possible, helps clients access services
- Provides services in the areas of crisis intervention, post traumatic stress, conflict resolution, vicarious trauma and teachings on self care for IDS survivors and their family members
- Maintains accurate and confidential client records.
- Travel extensively to KO First Nations communities, often by small aircraft.

**ACCOUNTABILITY**
- This position reports to the KO Mental Health Coordinator.

**COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS**
- Degree or training, and experience working in mental health related fields.
- Knowledge and understanding of indigenous culture and values in a regional context.
- Excelled leadership, management, motivation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to speak one of the KO local dialects is an asset.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
- Must be willing to provide a police criminal background check.
- Able to work effectively with others and to work independently.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
