**THE OPPORTUNITY**

Rocky Ridge Retirement, located in Calgary AB, is actively seeking an energetic, enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join our growing team

Reporting to the Executive Director the successful incumbent in the position of **Custodian **will be responsible for the cleanliness of the kitchen, including dishes, glassware and kitchen apparatus/ equipment.

**WHAT YOU’LL DO**
- Ensure the cleanliness of the facility and laundry.
- Schedule staff, ensure adequate staffing and high standards are maintained.
- Ensure resident rooms are cleaned as scheduled or as needed.
- Ensure common areas are cleaned as scheduled or as needed.
- Operate all equipment safely such as vacuums, carpet cleaners, washers, dryers, etc..
- Develop and implement schedule for all laundry.
- Lead by example, ensure a good team atmosphere and high standard of service is provided by all housekeeping/laundry staff.
- Ensure annual and mandatory education is complete for all housekeeping/laundry staff.
- Review and work within department budget; create action plan, in collaboration with the Environmental Services Manager, to achieve budget goals.
- Approve payroll timesheets, vacation and leave requests in collaboration with the Environmental Services Manager.
- Maintain positive relations, be courteous and respectful to residents and co-workers.
- Responsible for reporting any areas of concern to the Environmental Services Manager.
- Report risk situations to the Environmental Services Manager/Executive Director immediately.
- Order and maintain department supplies, ensure all areas are stocked with necessary supplies and equipment.
- Complete maintenance requisitions when an area/item requires attention.
- Assist in coordinating and completing annual and biannual housekeeping tasks.
- Coordinate and conduct department staff meetings, prepare minutes.
- Coordinate or attend in-services as required.
- Ensure all checklists and documentation are complete and quickly available in the event of an inspection or audit.
- Complete quality audits and collect quality indicators as required.
- Complete pool documentation, as assigned, in the absence of the Environmental Services Manager.
- In collaboration with the Environmental Services Manager, complete all care equipment preventative maintenance checks and document on associated logs.
- Attend the OHS Committee.
- Complete testing, with the Environmental Services Manager quarterly as assigned.
- In collaboration with the Environmental Services Manager, complete monthly fire extinguisher checks, as assigned.
- Ensure work complies with all safety requirements, regulations, standards, policies and procedures.
- Any other duties and tasks as requested or assigned.

**PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS**
- Work in an environment where there are many distractions and attention is needed on numerous issues at a time.
- Be flexible with schedules and assignments.
- Well organized with attention to detail.
- Walk, stretch and stand on a variety of surfaces for at least 6 hours per day.
- Frequently lift up to 60 pounds.
- Push and/or pull wheeled equipment up to 50 pounds.
- Bend, stoop, and/or sit on a regular basis.
- Climb stairs and work in confined spaces.

**WHO YOU ARE**
- Knowledgeable of health and safety regulations.
- Experienced in seniors’ care, retirement living, supportive living or long term care.
- Good verbal and written English skills.
- Flexible, willing and positive attitude, dependable and trustworthy.
- Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Able to perform duties with mínimal supervision.
- Basic computer skills.
- Problem solving skills.
- Understand and maintain confidentiality.
- Experience in scheduling is considered an asset.
- Experience in housekeeping and general maintenance is considered an asset.
