**The Program - Shunda Creek**

Enviros Shunda Creek, funded by Alberta Health Services, is an 18 bed 12 week live in, Adventure Therapy Addiction recovery program. Shunda Creek serves 18-24 year old males who have substance abuse issues and who often have co-existing diagnosed/undiagnosed mental health concerns. Shunda Creek has been providing treatment since 2009 and operates 99 km west of Rocky Mountain House in the Nordegg Alberta area. The site is 3 hours SW of Edmonton, 3 hours NW of Calgary and 2 hours west of Red Deer. Shunda Creek is open to all males 18-24 years of age within Alberta.

**The Position - Manager**

As the Shunda Creek Manager your primary responsibility is to ensure the delivery of an adventure therapy addiction treatment program in accordance with agency directives, policies, priorities within the Service Operating Requirements established within the Young Adult Treatment provincial program. As well, in partnership with the Program Supervisor and Therapists, you must ensure the daily program activities follow accreditation and wilderness industry standards to ensure an integrated, effective, and therapeutic service. As the Manager you are responsible for ensuring an experiential approach, adventure therapy and strength-based philosophy is implemented in an intentional and safe manner. The Manager is responsible for liaising with the program funder, direct supervision of the Program Supervisor, Therapists and Alumni Facilitator as well as providing ongoing support and training to the staff team. The Manager supports the Enviros Community through liaison, program development, on-call support and working collaboratively with other service providers in the community.

This position is responsible for the recruitment of the service delivery team and the direct supervision of the Supervisor, Therapists and Alumni Facilitator.

- In carrying out your responsibilities as Manager, you are expected to represent an agency perspective in all your communications and actions.
- Ensure the program is delivered in accordance with industry and accreditation standards and is meeting the goals and expectations of the funder.
- Ensure residents have a voice and choice in their treatment.
- Ensure Principle Based Practice model is incorporated into all aspects of the program ensuring a holistic approach in service delivery.
- Support staff in developing positive and professional relationships with residents.
- Consult with Program Supervisor and Therapists regarding overall therapeutic delivery of program.
- Ensure treatment teams are consistent in the therapeutic direction set for individual residents.
- Provide support to the staff team as it relates to residents, assisting staff in acquiring further knowledge regarding mental health and how it impacts residents in recovery.
- Provide supervision and support to the Alumni facilitators.
- Consult with Alberta Health Services Red Deer with respect to resident demographics and emerging issues.
- Ensure that all relevant documentation is completed including research, case planning, CIR’s, home visits and daily case notes
- Complete quarterly and annual reports as required.
- Ensure all Wilderness staff are trained to industry standards.
- Ensure that all aspects of Adventure therapy meet acceptable therapeutic standards in collaboration with the Wilderness Facilitator and Program Supervisor.
- Ensure all practice adheres to OH&S standards.
- Three to Five years supervisory experience
