**Position Description**:
**UNIT PROFILE**
The Injured Workers’ Mental Health Specialty Clinic is an outpatient program dedicated to providing clinical service, education, and research in intersection between mental health problems and returning to work. Individuals who have not responded to treatment in the community are referred to this clinic for multidisciplinary care, including assessment and treatment.

The role of the Psychometrist is to conduct evidence-based psychological assessments including administration of psychological tests and measures and integrating test data with patient history and clinical presentation, as well as conducting evidenced-based treatment interventions under the direction and supervision of a Psychologist.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Master's Degree in Mental Health including psychology or counselling preferably from a degree program centered on assessment and treatment of psychiatric illness (Clinical Psychology, Neuropsychology) preferred
- One year experience conducting evidenced-based psychological assessment and treatment
- Registration with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario in good standing
- Demonstrated commitment to the values of Service, Responsible Stewardship, Community Responsiveness and Respect
- Demonstrated compliance with the ethical and professional practice standards of the profession
- Training in the administration and scoring of a range of psychological tests
- Demonstrated skills and experience in treatment, assessment, and research in relevant areas of practice
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team, to collaborate with community resources and services, and to advocate for the needs of clients
- Advanced oral and written communication skills required for assessment reports and oral presentations
- Demonstrated knowledge, sensitivity and expertise in the care of individuals with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma and stressor-related disorders, and/or chronic pain

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Administers a wide variety of psychological tests and develops a repertoire of specialized test skills
- Scores and interprets, under Psychologist supervision, designated psychological tests and measures (e.g., structured diagnostic interviews; PAI; PCL-5), and integrates test data with patient history and clinical presentation
- Assists in identifying emotional maladjustments, difficulties of patients by carrying out the above procedures and by eliciting information through patient interview and behavioural observations when appropriate
- Conducts designated evidenced-based therapeutic procedures (e.g., may include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy; Cognitive Processing Therapy or Prolonged Exposure; ACT or mindfulness interventions) under a Psychologist's direction and supervision
- Relates to designated treatment units or programs as a team member or affiliate providing liaison with psychological services
- Participates in clinical research and evaluative projects related to psychology
- Contributes to formal educational programs and in-service teaching of professional staff at St. Joseph's Healthcare and in the Faculty of Health Sciences, McMaster University (e.g., Clinical Behavioural Sciences Program)
- Participates in continuing educational activities to maintain and upgrade knowledge and skills in psychology and related health care areas
- Participates in the supervision and training of learners (e.g., psychology practicum students, interns)
- Participates in multidisciplinary team meetings to assist in the assessment, treatment planning, and evaluation of outcomes for patients
