We are a family managed support team who support a young man, with spina bifida, living in his own home and living a very ordinary and inclusive life. This young man has part time employment and is a member of toastmasters and loves baseball and hockey, also, he has recently become involved in model railroading.
**Goal of position**: You would be assisting the family by acting as assisting manager of this young man's support team, as his family lives outside of the Edmonton area.
This would be the perfect position if you're looking for part time employment that most often could be worked around your other daily commitments.
Some of the duties may include:
Act as Liaison between the Family and Support Team
Act as a sub for other support staff (1 - 3 hrs typically in a day) if someone is ill or away - supporting only where 'needed'
Assist with interviews and hiring of new staff (when required)
Research employment/volunteer or other opportunities of interest to this young man as well as reach out to those potential organizations to introduce and open up dialogue regarding potential opportunities.
Ability to assist with some respite (if needed/other team members assist as well)...this would come with an additional wage of 198.00/day.
Willingness to attend learning opportunities when/if they are offered that would assist yourself and/or the team to improve any support provided to this young man
Set up/assist with Team meetings in order to keep everyone connected, engaged and updated on any support and needs of this young man.
Check in with various support team members weekly to ensure everything is running smooth, make note and/or answer any questions and ensure things are going smoothly
Connect with this young man, weekly, to hear how he is doing, any opportunities he'd like to look into, how support is going for him, if there is anything he needs assistance with or less assistance with (more or less independence wanted/needed) and keep updated on his goals.
We are looking for someone who has flexibility in their schedule to be available primarily between 11:30 & 4:30 Monday - Friday with an occasional Saturday, only if needed.

- Must have commitment and a strong belief in inclusion to understand and _share his desire to learn and live as independently as possible._
- Must be comfortable with personal care and be able to treat all situations with dignity and respect.
- Have a strong ability to facilitate relationships
- Ability to motivate, facilitate and coach independence with this young man as well as his team
- Strong ability to work collaboratively work with the team
- Must have a a strong work ethic and able to work independently
- Must have **excellent communication, time management, critical thinking and organizational skills**
- Must have a vehicle and a clean driving record
- Have or willing to obtain a criminal background check (vulnerable citizens check)
**This is not an agency position**.
**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 8 - 18 per week
**Salary**: $23.00-$25.00 per hour

Due to support possibly be needed in certain health care areas and/or facilities for reasons of volunteer or employment, we would strongly prefer our team to be fully vaccinated although some exceptions may be considered.
