**ROLE**

The Junior Electrical Estimator will be responsible for the accurate, timely preparation of full-cost estimates for projects, including materials and labour. Projects can range from Bid-spec to Renovation Additions and Design-Build. The Junior Electrical Estimator must have a good working knowledge of both Mechanical and Electrical Systems to properly quote Mechanical, Controls and Electrical Wiring aspects of projects. The Junior Electrical Estimator shall be prepared to become fluent in Office 365 and Trimble/Accubid Estimating Software.

**Responsibilities**

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities **include, but are not limited to the following:

- Assist in completing full estimate closings
- Become able to ascertain the difference between Mechanical Wiring, Div 16/26 and BAS Wiring
- Attend and participate in site visits, pre-bid meeting and post-bid meetings as required
- Assist in preparing and/or coordinating the preparation of full cost estimates on conceptual, design-build, or general tender work, up to any size and complexity.
- Assist in preparing materials, labour and equipment cost estimations according to proposals, plans, estimates, and specifications; without supervision, including project closings.
- Assist in reviewing data to determine material and labour requirements and prepare itemized lists.
- Help with quantifying takeoffs including entry into a computerized estimating system
- Assist in perform high volume of price change notices.
- Consult with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
- Participate in estimating turnover meetings with the project team to assist planning and budget process
- Learn the ability to prepare takeoffs using drawings and documents that may be less than 100% complete
- Prepare and maintain a list of suppliers, contractors, and sub-trades and negotiate with them as necessary to obtain the most competitive and profitable prices.
- Interface with other individuals in the organization to obtain support and commitment to the cost estimates.
- Organize and manage a centralized cost estimating database and a formal process to support cost estimating to ensure historical data is utilized.
- Review a final cost report with the project team and develop historical information
- Analyze completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs and determine the reason for any discrepancies.
- Provide improvement recommendations to cost estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costs.
- Identifies cost trends to assist management in cost reduction and process improvement efforts.

**Educational And Professional Requirements**
- College Certificate or Diploma in related Electrical; OR
- Electrician’s License with experience and/or training; OR
- Equivalent combination of education and experience; and successful completion of estimating program in post-secondary education environment.
- Prior experience with Trimble/Accubid.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- Travel may be required.
- Onsite investigation
- Ability to attend and conduct presentations and meetings.
- Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
- Overtime as required.
- Lifting or moving up to 20lbs may be required.
