We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Electrical Estimator to join our Building Services team in our Vaughan office and be an integral part of delivering continued success within this department. In addition to your day-to-day Estimating responsibilities which include: preparing accurate tender prices from the available information such as drawings and specifications. Why This Role Matters to Modern Niagara  This position is critical to ensuring the success of Modern Niagara’s projects by delivering accurate and competitive estimates that form the foundation for winning bids and executing projects effectively. The Electrical Estimator plays a key role in maintaining profitability, supporting strategic growth, and strengthening client relationships through precise cost analysis and informed decision-making. Key Impact / Purpose  Provides reliable cost predictions and identifies risk. Enables Modern Niagara to secure projects while ensuring budgets are realistic and achievable for operational teams. Duties and Responsibilities: Performing quantity takeoffs including entry into estimating software Preparation, final review, and submission of Bid Documents to ensure all bid requirements are met Assemble all elements of an estimate including labour, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing The ability to prepare takeoffs using drawings and documents that may be less than 100% complete Understand the labour variances between project types and apply appropriate correction factors Provide detailed labor breakdowns for each area to assist with budget creation and management of the project Prepares budgets for prospective projects Attend and participate in site visits, pre-bid meetings, and post-bid meetings as required Participate in estimating turnover meetings with the project team to assist with the planning and budget process Establish strong relationships with suppliers and sub-trades to ensure sound and competitive pricing is received Reviewing project to develop a win strategy Reviewing final cost report with the project team and develop for historical information Interpret client and design information and have sufficient industry and design knowledge to interpret and include for a complete system. Ability to critically review request for proposals, preliminary designs, estimates, proposals, and both external and internal information to enable best decisions to be made in consultation with management. Ability to decide as part of a team which projects have potential for MNV to pursue and execute and which to decline, based on backlog, complexity, schedule, client, resources, and target market. Timing of all duties and responsibilities as set up by the Estimating Policy and/or reviewed during estimating meetings Must haves:  Experience in estimating; Electrical/Mechanical wiring estimation experience considered an asset An electrical apprentice, electrician, electrical engineer or electrical a relevant electrical background Proficiency with MS Excel for complex energy calculations Proficiency with MS Word for development of high-quality reports Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, both verbally and written Self-motivated with strong willingness and ability to learn and be challenged Works effectively in team environment Maintain positive customer interactions and value the customer experience Client focused and proven relationship building skills Ability to prioritize competing requirements and deadlines under pressure Values time commitments and punctuality Nice to haves:   Experience in commercial and institutional projects This is a new position.
