_The Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services (NRBHSS), incorporated under the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement (Section 15) as well as the Act respecting health services and social services, covers the entire territory located north of the 55th parallel. Its mission is to adapt health and social services programs to the population’s needs and the region’s realities and to ensure efficient organization of the resources made available to the Nunavik region._

The regional board seeks to fill the following permanent position:
**DESCRIPTION**

Under the authority of the Planning and Programming Director and the supervision of the Coordinator of Psychosocial Affairs, for the mental health, suicide prevention and homelessness files, the officer will be responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring the files assigned to them in the field of suicide prevention and intervention, more specifically in support to the communities and the SPLW’s. Additionally, they will provide expert advice to partners, both community organizations and institutions.

They will work closely with the Public Health prevention and promotion team, avec Inuit Values and Practices team, and also with mental health teams, substance use teams, and the Nunami program (on the land), but more specifically other team members who work for life promotion and suicide prevention.

Your responsibilities also include to:

- Work in collaboration with the agent in charge of Inuuguminaq (Nunavik Suicide Prevention Strategy) by supporting the implementation of the actions identified and in collaboration with the key partners;
- Collaborate with health centers and partners to ensure an action plan is put in place to address the issue of suicide in Nunavik;
- Identify and respond to the needs of health centers by developing adapted solutions;
- Design, adapt and implement preventive measures for the entire population and for targeted groups such as youth;
- Establish, in collaboration with health centers teams and other partners, actions to promote positive mental health within schools, families, and the community to reduce the incidence of suicide in the region;
- Implement actions to support the grieving communities by putting in place groups for families and the ones who lost a close one;
- Support community initiatives, local and regional, that address suicide prevention and life promotion;
- Coordinate/closely collaborate to the annual Puttautiit event on suicide prevention and healing, with external partners;
- Contribute to the development of trauma-informed care programs in partnership with external partners;
- Collaborate on efforts to develop an appropriate and culturally sensitive response to traumatic situations, as well as work related to postintervention.

The person in this position will work closely with life promotion and suicide prevention workers from both health centers, and other involved partners. They will participate in various regional committees as required. Additionally, they will ensure that all services offered are culturally appropriate and aligned with the social realities of Nunavik.

**REQUIREMENTS**
- Oral and written knowledge of inuktitut and one of the two other languages spoken in Nunavik (english and/or french);
- Must hold a bachelor’s degree in appropriate academic discipline such as administrative sciences, humanities or social sciences;
- Experience with best practices in suicide prevention, crisis intervention, post intervention, and trauma-informed care ideally in an Inuit setting;
- Sensitivity and capacity to work in the context of suicide prevention and life promotion;
- Experience in psychosocial intervention, ideally in Nunavik;
- Proven project planning and organizational skills;
- Experience working with Inuit or Indigenous population will be considered an asset;
- Proficiency in Office suite environment;
- Good adaptability and flexibility.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- Permanent full-time position (35 hours/week);
- Position based in Kuujjuaq or in telework with frequent travel in Nunavik;
