Research Assistants are normally students, in a University of Winnipeg undergraduate program, employed to assist with tasks related to research. Work is performed within defined guidelines and under supervision of a more senior researcher or faculty member.

**Position Overview**:
Dr. Shauna Labman is looking to hire students from Global College (Human Rights majors and masters students from PACS or MDP) for support at the upcoming Global Forum on Bigotry and Hate, taking place September 12-13, 2025, at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights in Winnipeg. Students will assist in multiple ways but will primarily be responsible for note-taking during the conference. The expectation is that students will be available to work on either the 12th or 13th for the full conference day or work both days.

The Global Forum on Bigotry and Hate is a biannual event that connects scholars with practitioners from across the globe to discuss prevention of and responses to local manifestations of bigotry and hate.

**Duties**:

- Perform data/word processing, routine computations, and record keeping.
- Employee will perform note taking during group sessions
- Perform routine clerical and administrative duties to support research activities.
- Employee will guide participants and help with the implementations of the logistics of the event
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.

**Qualifications**:

- Employee must be pursuing either a Human Rights major or a masters degree from PACS or MDP.
- Ability to effectively take notes (proficient writing skills) during group discussions.
- Ability to deliver and implement verbal instructions, guidelines, policies and procedures.
- Ability to lead and facilitate participants’ mobilization within the venue.
- Ability to interact empathetically with the participants in the forum.
- Employee may have been a UofW student ambassador, event’s facilitator, graduation usher, open house volunteer etc.
- Employee must be able to demonstrate familiarity with major event’s organization, participation and have served as a host.
- Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Preference will be given to undergraduate students in the Human Rights program and graduate students in the Peace and Conflict Studies Program.
- Employee may work standing for long periods.

The period of work will be from **September 10, 2025 - September 13, 2025**and the estimated total hours of work will be **10-16 hours**.
