**Process Development Scientist, Biologics. **These are permanent, full-time position located in
**Dartmouth, Nova Scotia**
- Performing enzymatic in vitro transcription preparation of mRNA that are robust and scalable using DoE principles.
- Designing and carrying out experiments involving plasmid and primer design, PCR, microbial transformation, and other areas of synthetic biology as part of a commercial biologics platform.
- Collaborate in a fast-paced CDMO developing commercial processes to produce innovative biologics, supporting USP fermentation and DSP purification at lab scale.
- Carrying out literature searches and summaries as appropriate; designing new experimental approaches and preparing research plans.
- Work collaboratively as a member of a cross-functional team with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Provide technical input in the evaluation of client project proposals to determine feasibility.
- Preparing and presenting technical summaries of experiments for internal and external client stakeholders, including tech. transfer and preparation of reports.
- Document experiments and data thoroughly.
- Following the company’s quality and safety standards (quality management system procedures and safety practices for the laboratory and manufacturing facilities).
- Training and supervising of research assistants or summer students if needed.
- Educational background in, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biochemical Engineering, Molecular Biology, or closely related field.
- Experience with pDNA or mRNA production process is an asset.
- Knowledge of molecular biology techniques related to synthetic biology (design of genetic constructs, primer design, PCR, microbial transformation, gene editing, cloning and production of recombinant proteins etc.) is an asset.
- Knowledge of fermentation, metabolic engineering techniques and/or bacterial physiology is an asset.
- Knowledge of fermentation-based production and/or of downstream purification of recombinant proteins is an asset.
- Ability to collaborate and communicate in a dynamic fast paced CDMO environment and manage multiple projects.
- Ability to work flexible/extended hours, periodically, as dictated by process needs.
